Rihanna Teases Fans With Updates On Highly Anticipated Album R9
Rihanna, the iconic singer, has finally dropped some hints about her much-awaited album, R9! At the launch of her new Fenty Beauty Soft’lit Foundation in Los Angeles, the 36-year-old star shared some exciting details about the project.
“It’s gonna be amazing,” Rihanna said to EXTRA.
Emphasizing the importance of representing her growth and evolution through her music, she continued, “It has to be — that is the only reason it’s not out yet. If I’m not feeling it and I’m not feeling like it represents the evolution, the time I spent away. There should be a show of growth, right?”
“I want to play, and I feel like music is a playground, and I want to have fun with it and show truly where I am at,” she added.
When it comes to collaborations, Rihanna isn’t rushing into anything. “I’m not a big collaborator… It has to be very intentional, so I’ll know when I have the record,” she explained.
In another event in London, the Stay singer discussed her new music with Entertainment Tonight. While keeping most details under wraps, she assured fans that the wait would be worthwhile, teasing that her new tracks are “so good.”
Even though she’s been teasing R9 for years, Rihanna remains tight-lipped about its release date. “I wanna know, too,” she joked with ET.
Interestingly, Rihanna revealed that her partner A$AP Rocky has shown interest in rapping over some of the tracks. “Me and Rocky are really trying to figure out who is going to use what,” she revealed.
Despite the anticipation surrounding R9, Rihanna remains focused on her creative vision, including visuals for the album. While she couldn’t provide specifics, she hinted at exciting ideas brewing.
During her conversation with EXTRA, Rihanna also spoke about her plans for the Met Gala, revealing that she would be leaning towards simple this year.
“I’m actually just keeping it real simple this year. Very simple… I think it’s gonna come to what my makeup and what my hair is going to do. We wanna play with that, but I have no idea what I’m gonna do with that….very simple-ish…compared to everything I’ve ever done. I’m showing up for dinner! Shout out to Anna Wintour,” she stated.
Explaining the change in her fashion style, she said, “When you become a mom, your style goes from like ‘blah’ to ‘let’s see what fits’ to ‘I’m gonna be a bad bitch today.’ You’ve got to remind yourself a little bit sometimes, you know, bad bitch is still in there somewhere.”
“You wanna be comfortable because you’re moving around so much and then it’s whatever fits. Right now, my clothes are either too big or too small most of the time,” she added.
