Ryan Reynolds Talks Parenting, Mental Health, And Family Values
In a heart-to-heart conversation with PEOPLE magazine, Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds opened up about his approach to parenting and the importance of self-awareness for his four children. Speaking at the Bring Change to Mind Revels & Revelations 11 event in New York City, the 46-year-old actor shared his insights on nurturing the mental well-being of his kids.
“I think it’s more about talking to them about everything,” Reynolds revealed. “It’s genuine when I say I take a huge interest in their days and how things are going.”
For Ryan and his wife, Blake Lively, instilling self-awareness in their children is paramount. Speaking to People, he explained, “I think as parents, we are so much better equipped to handle the rigors of childhood through our kids now than when I was a kid. It’s just totally different now. People are much more self-aware. And that’s the thing we sort of hang our hat on the most is self-awareness with our kids. Not be happy, not be anything, just be self-aware and welcome everything in.”
The couple, who share three daughters, eight-year-old James, seven-year-old Inez, and four-year-old Betty, welcomed their fourth child in February. Ryan expressed his joy about being a father, saying, “For me, the best time of my day is walking them to school and walking them back.”
At the event, Reynolds was honored with the Robin Williams’ Legacy of Laughter Award. The organization Bring Change to Mind, founded by actress Glenn Close and her family in 2009, has been dedicated to combatting the stigma surrounding mental illness.
Despite their growing family, Ryan and Blake seem to be thriving. In an interview with CNBC’s Power Lunch, the Deadpool actor quipped about the chaos of their household, stating, “It’s a zoo over here. This is my office here, and to be honest, I’ll probably spend the rest of my life in here!”
He also stated, “We’re very excited. Look, we wouldn’t do this four times if we didn’t love it.”
Amid Ryan’s candid insights on parenting, self-awareness, and his commitment to mental health advocacy, there is exciting news for his fans, as it has been revealed that his upcoming movie Deadpool 3 might be released in 2024 afterall. The third installation of the movie, which marked the actor’s official entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, faced production delays due to industry strikes. However, The Wrap reported that Marvel Studios is determined to maintain the film’s release date of May 3, 2024, making it the MCU’s first-ever R-rated movie.
