Sam Asghari Admits Britney Spears Helped His Career Take Off
Sam Asghari knows that being married to Britney Spears made him more recognizable. During the March 10 episode of The Nikki and Brie Show on SiriusXM, the 31-year-old actor and model opened up about how his relationship with the pop icon affected his career.
“I’ve been an actor ever since high school,” Sam shared. “We met on a acting set with my last partner [Spears] who I was married to, but I couldn’t help that she was the biggest superstar in the world and that kind of gave me a kick start.”
When host Brie Garcia asked if he would “banish” someone for suggesting that his success came from dating someone famous, Sam hesitated. At first, he said yes, but then admitted, “It’s a hand-to-hand. I mean, that’s what happened to me when I started acting. I’ve been an actor ever since high school. We met on a acting set with my last partner [Spears] who I was married to, but I couldn’t help that she was the biggest superstar in the world and that kind of gave me a kick start.”
Sam also touched on how fame works in general. “You know, everybody’s famous by association,” he explained. “You know, whether you work with something or you, it’s just how it is.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the Traitors star had strong opinions about people lying about their dating history. When asked if he would “banish” someone for lying about their “body count,” Sam responded, “Absolutely…It’s like a used car. You come over here, you can’t reverse the mileage on that car. That’s illegal. That’s against the law.”
He also said that “the lower, the better” when it comes to a person’s number of past partners.
Sam and Britney tied the knot in June 2022, with stars like Madonna and Drew Barrymore in attendance. However, their marriage ended the following year, and their divorce was finalized in May 2024.
Now, Sam has moved on. In January 2025, he and actress Brooke Irvine made their relationship official on Instagram.
