Sandra Bullock Is Handling Her Partner’s Death in the Most Amazing Way Possible
After losing her long-time partner to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or Lou Gehrig’s Disease earlier this month, Sandra Bullock has been in mourning. Despite her loss, her family has nothing but praise for the A-list Hollywood star. They recall how she cared for Bryan Randall as he battled secretly and painfully before losing his battle with ALS at age 57.
Since the filming of her last comedy, The Lost City, ended in 2021, the 59-year-old celebrity put her career on hold to care for her partner. At the time, she didn’t divulge any reasons for her brief hiatus and was rarely seen in public.
Sandra’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, used her Instagram account to mourn Bryan’s loss and give kudos to her sister who had been in a relationship with Bryan since 2015.
She began her lengthy post by writing, “I’m convinced that Bry has found the best fishing spot in heaven and is already casting his lure into rushing rivers teaming with salmon. ALS is a cruel disease, but there is some comfort in knowing he had the best of caretakers in my amazing sister and the band of nurses she assembled who helped her look after him in their home.”
Gisele ended her post with, “Rest in peace, Bryan,” while encouraging friends, family, and followers to donate to the ALS Association and Massachusetts General Hospital.
Described by Sandra as “the love of my life,” Bryan was a photographer who was diagnosed with ALS in 2020. Bryan’s family revealed that he chose to keep his ALS journey private, a decision that his family and close friends readily supported.
Upon his passing, the family issued a statement that read, “We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.”
They also asked that their privacy be respected so they could grieve for Bryan, signing off the request with “His Loving Family.”
The Speed actress met Bryan in 2015 when he photographed her son’s birthday. This was five years after Sandra’s ugly divorce from Jesse James. Before becoming a photographer, Bryan had worked as a model for major brands like Saint Laurent and Hugo Boss.
Sandra and Bryan were last pictured together in July 2020. Bryan was caught looking adoringly at Sandra as they arrived at an intimate celebration in Studio City. They attended the event with Sandra’s two children.
Sadly, ALS has no cure and ends in death. The progression of the disease is unique for every individual. Most who are diagnosed with it are given life expectancies of two to five years after its initial symptoms appear.
It affects the motor neurons or the nerves that control voluntary muscles. As the disease progresses, muscles waste away and become weaker, making it challenging to talk, walk, swallow, and eventually breathe.
Sandra and Bryan don’t have biological children together, but Sandra has two adopted children named Louis, 13, and Laila, 11. Bryan also has a daughter named Skylar from his previous relationship.
