Saving Private Ryan Star Tom Sizemore Remains In a Coma After Suffering a Brain Aneurysm
More than a week after suffering a brain aneurysm, Saving Private Ryan actor Tom Sizemore has shown no improvement. According to his manager, he is still in a coma and confined to the ICU at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, LA.
Charles Lago, Tom’s manager, shared with TMZ last Monday that the medical team treating the 61-year-old actor has recommended the actor’s next of kin think of an end-of-life plan for him.
Tom’s family has not yet released any statement. But given the doctor’s advice, they are keen to look into the best course of action for him and their family.
Charles, speaking on behalf of Tom’s family, has requested privacy during this challenging time and conveyed the family’s gratitude for the support and prayers they have received from countless fans and friends. Tom’s family admitted that it is, indeed, a tough time for all of them.
Tom rose to fame when he starred in the 1998 Steven Spielberg movie Saving Private Ryan, in which he played Sergeant Horvath. Aside from his role in Steven Spielberg’s films, Tom also gained popularity through other movies he was part of like Natural Born Killers, True Romance, and Hit.
Tom’s Hollywood career has been tainted with plenty of controversies. He battled drug dependency and had several alterations to the law. He has been arrested for driving under the influence a number of times, along with being called on for domestic abuse and him being caught with a controlled substance.
It was reported that he suffered a brain aneurysm after a stroke last February 18 at his LA home. Tom was found collapsed and paramedics were called. The first responders reached the scene at approximately 2 am and Tom was soon transported to the hospital, where he was tagged as a critical patient and was placed in the Intensive Care Unit.
Charles also spoke with FOX News on February 19 to confirm specific details of what happened. He said that Tom was at his South Main Street apartment when he suffered from a brain aneurysm and was found unconscious.
Delving into further details, Charles shared that Tom’s family was aware of what had happened and that everyone was hoping for the best. It was also during this time when Charles shared that Tom was in critical condition and that it was very early to determine his recovery.
It was TMZ that first broke the news of Tom’s condition.
Tom’s most recent role was in an indie science action film entitled Impuratus, in which he played a police detective who was forced to have a change in belief after he witnessed a Civil War veteran’s deathbed confession.
Impuratus is set to debut next month, with the first public screening scheduled to be held in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, where most of the movie was filmed.
Talking to Age of the Nerd, Tom mentioned that he agreed to take on this new movie because he found the script enjoyable and the leading part terrific.
