Selena Gomez Reflects On Inner Beauty and Helping Others at Rare Impact Fund Event
Selena Gomez opened up about when she feels the most beautiful while attending a special event for a cause close to her heart. On October 24, the singer, actress, and beauty mogul, 32, attended the Rare Impact Fund Benefit held at Nya Studios West in Los Angeles, where she shared her personal insights on beauty, mental health, and helping others.
“I feel most beautiful when I wake up,” Selena revealed exclusively to PEOPLE at the event. “Because I get to wake up to my sister [Gracie] or I get to wake up to my grandparents. Any of that just makes me feel pretty.”
For the occasion, Selena dressed to impress in a stunning black one-shoulder Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress, featuring a ruched middle and asymmetrical skirt. She completed the look with pointed black heels, smoky eye makeup, a nude lip, and a wavy hairstyle, exuding effortless glamor.
During her speech at the benefit, which was organized to raise awareness and funds for global youth mental health, Selena expressed her deep gratitude for those in attendance. She admitted feeling both “honored” and “overwhelmed” to be part of such an important initiative. “I’m a bit overwhelmed, but I’m excited,” she shared with the crowd, thanking them for their support.
Selena’s passion for mental health advocacy stems from her own journey. She has been open about her personal experiences and the ongoing process of managing her mental health. “I say every day, I’m a work in progress. Every day, I try to do my best, I try to do what I think is right for me, and that’s all I can ask of all of you,” she said during her speech.
The star of Only Murders in the Building also spoke about how the love and devotion from young people who reach out to her have supported her in difficult times. “I’m here to reflect the young people who reach out to me every single day and trust me with their truth. Their love and devotion has completely helped me in my darkest moments, and for that, I’ll always be in debt to them, and I want to just do everything I can.”
Selena launched the Rare Impact Fund as part of her Rare Beauty brand to support mental health initiatives. One percent of all Rare Beauty sales go directly to the fund, which aims to support mental health services and education. Earlier in October, to mark World Mental Health Day, the Come And Get It singer partnered with Sephora for the Make a Rare Impact campaign. For the second year in a row, 100 percent of all Rare Beauty sales on that day were donated to the Rare Impact Fund.
Selena closed her speech by thanking everyone who has helped make her dream of helping others a reality. “We all deserve support if and when we need it, no matter who we are. I believe connection matters, and I’m here to be a voice for those who maybe don’t have one or for those who don’t feel like they have one. So, I again want to thank you so much for helping one of my wildest dreams come true,” she said.
