Sharon Osbourne Reveals She Tried To Commit Suicide After Husband Ozzy Had An Affair
In a heartfelt revelation at her show, Sharon Osbourne: Cut the Crap, the well-known TV personality, Sharon Osbourne, opened up about a deeply personal and challenging chapter in her life.
Speaking on stage in London, Sharon, 71, bravely shared the painful moment she discovered her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s past affair, and the heartbreaking aftermath it unleashed.
“He always, always had groupies, and I was so used to that,” she shared. “But when he knows the name of the person, where they live, and where they work… it is a whole different thing as you are emotionally invested. I took, I don’t know how many pills.”
Sharon, a mother of three who shares daughters Aimee, 40, and Kelly, 39, and son Jack, 38, with Ozzy, further explained that she thought her kids would be able to take care of themselves, as they were older at the time.
“So I took an overdose and locked myself in the bedroom. The maid tried to come in to clean the room and saw me,” she stated.
Ozzy and Sharon have been married since 1982, enduring the highs and lows of life together. However, in May 2016, their marriage faced a severe test when it was revealed that they were splitting after 33 years of marriage, following reports of Ozzy’s four-year affair with a hairstylist.
In August 2016, Ozzy sought help by entering rehab for sex addiction, a courageous step towards healing. The couple’s love story took a dramatic turn when they reconciled the following month and renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas on Mother’s Day in 2017.
Ozzy expressed his deep remorse and love during this poignant moment, saying, “I made a huge mistake. Without Sharon, I am nothing. I love her. I can honestly say that I have never loved anybody other than my wife.”
Months later, Sharon candidly discussed Ozzy’s previous infidelities in an interview with U.K. newspaper The Telegraph, acknowledging the pain they caused, but also recognizing the complexity of the situation. She said, “There wasn’t just one woman; there were six of them. When I found out about the hairdresser, I couldn’t believe it. Because none of these women were show ponies; he was doing it to fill the void in some way.”
Ozzy himself expressed his deep regrets about his past actions in a 2020 interview with British GQ, saying, “I regret cheating on my wife. I don’t do it anymore. I got my reality check, and I’m lucky she didn’t leave me. I’m not proud of that. I was pissed off with myself. But I broke her heart.”
Two years later, the resilient couple celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a “brilliant” staycation at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Their enduring love and unwavering commitment to each other showcase that love can conquer even the most challenging trials.
In Sharon’s words, “We never gave up on each other. I mean, I wasn’t a saint. Ozzy wasn’t a saint. I gave him as good as he gave me. We’re just meant to be.”
