‘Sopranos’ Star Drea de Matteo Is All Geared Up to Share Her Journey with OnlyFans
Drea de Matteo says OnlyFans saved her life by empowering her financially.
You can hear about the experience straight from the horse’s mouth on TMZ’s new documentary “Famous & Naked,” alongside Andy Bachman, Aubrey O’Day, Dan Benson, Harvey Levin, Kira Shannon, Paige VanZant, and Teresa Lo.
“It empowered me to take care of my family,” she shares in a snippet. “So, the negativity that came with it? Bring it the fuck on.”
“Hollywood, the actual industry itself. There’s a lot of shifty sh-t that goes on in Hollywood, and we all know that. It’s about freedom, and I don’t have to answer to f—king anybody right now,” she reflected, calling OnlyFans a much safer platform.
The American actress, best known for her Emmy Award-winning role as Adriana La Cerva on the HBO crime drama series The Sopranos—spilled the beans in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. “It saved us. OnlyFans saved my life, 100 percent. I can’t believe I’m saying that, but it really did save us,” the 52-year-old revealed.
de Matteo continued, “My house had flooded, so I was trying to sell the house quickly. I wanted to try and sell it before they took it. At the same time, I lost my mom, and my other mom, who has dementia, had run out of money for her caregiver. I didn’t know which way was up.”
The Sons of Anarchy star shared that when she was labeled a “savage” by the industry after she vocally opposed vaccine mandates, her agent dropped her, and acting opportunities dried up.
“Why did I join OnlyFans? When we launched, we had, I would say, a couple hundred bucks left in the bank, I’m not kidding,” she shared in the documentary.
“People find that hard to believe that I was never really paid very much money for any of the jobs I’ve done. People think I’m f—ing made of gold, and I’m not. I’ve worked job to job. And I’ve turned down tons of jobs in the past just to be with my children because their dad’s on the road, and he’s not around as much.”
“I was never the kind of actor that took jobs just to stay in the business. I literally took jobs to feed my family,” the Emmy-winning actress revealed to Fox News last year.
The actress revealed she had no choice but to seek alternative means to keep the money mill running, and OnlyFans—a platform known for its adult content—happens to be it.
She claims that fans flocked to her $15/month subscription service, and “within five minutes” she made enough money to “pay back Compass real estate, who kept the sale of my house. And beyond all that, it has given me enough money to start up and finance Ultrafree.” This is a streetwear brand that emphasizes artistic integrity.
de Matteo also shares that the upside to doing OnlyFans is that “she gets to bulk up to look better” and load on carb-heavy foods. “You want your boobs to be big and your butt to be big. Otherwise, the photos are a snooze fest!” she explains.
But her journey wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Tons of backlash and criticism followed, but de Matteo remains cool as a cucumber. “I just don’t care. I don’t. I’d rather save my family than save face,” she says.
“Anybody that wants to condemn me and put me down, go for it. I just hope you never find yourself in the position I was in to take care of two little kids.”
