Surprising Reveal At Super Bowl: Rihanna Is Expecting Another Baby
Rihanna’s representative has confirmed that the singer, who revealed a baby bump on Sunday while performing at Super Bowl LVII at the State Farm Arena in Glendale, Arizona, is indeed expecting a baby.
The nine-time Grammy winner, 34, made a highly-anticipated musical comeback at the SuperBowl LVII’s halftime show, where the Philadelphia Eagles played against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The singer opened the performance with her song Bitch Better Have My Money, and went on to perform other famous songs in her discography including We Found Love, Where Have You Been, Work, Umbrella. Closing the epic performance was the hit song Diamonds, written by Sia.
The singer-turned-business mogul’s SuperBowl performance is coming nine months after she had her first child with singer A$AP Rocky. Hollywood Reporter reported that in an interview before her Super Bowl show, the Love on the Brain singer first had doubts concerning performing at the Super Bowl.
“I was like, ‘You sure?’ I’m three months postpartum. Should I be making major decisions like this right now? I might regret this,” she reminisced.
However, the singer, whose last performance was almost five years ago, had the crowd going wild with her performance that featured 12 songs. Although the stand was filled with stars like Kevin Hart, Billie Eilish, Adele, — who noted she was going only for her — Neicy Nash, Paul Rudd, Jay Z, and many other A-listers also attended the event. Her partner, A$AP Rocky was equally present to support her. Even though he stayed out of the spotlight, the singer gave a sweet display as he cheered his pregnant partner on stage.
Regarding motherhood, Rihanna shared that “when you become a mom, there’s something that just happens where you feel like you could take on the world — you can do anything.” She says: “And the Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was…there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for my son to see that.”
Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance is the second time the singer has been asked to perform at the games. The first was in 2018, when she turned it down in solidarity with quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was protesting against racial injustice.
Many fans expected Rihanna to unveil a new song during her Super Bowl halftime show. But, it appears the singer has no plans of returning to music yet, especially considering she’s expecting another child with A$AP Rocky. Fans might have to hold on a bit longer to Lift Me Up, a tribute song to late actor Chadwick Boseman which she released in October.
