Tate McRae Says Her LGBTQ+ Fans Are Her “Favorite”

Tate McRae is giving love right back to the fans who support her the most. The 21-year-old pop star recently sat down with Pride and made it clear — her LGBTQ+ fans hold a special place in her heart.
“They’re my favorite,” Tate said with excitement. “No one beats them. Nobody is better than them.”
She didn’t stop there. The Sports Car singer revealed that her entire team is made up of LGBTQ+ individuals, which, in her eyes, is a huge advantage. “That’s the only opinion I really want when I’m releasing music,” she admitted. “I feel lucky that I have their opinion. We want to do the most and push the boundaries, but it’s also the most brutally honest advice.”
For Tate, her gay fans are more than just listeners — they’re her biggest supporters. “You know that as much as you guys ride for me, I ride for you,” she said. “I feel very grateful to have you guys in my life and surrounding me.”
During the interview, she also talked about a dream collaboration that’s been on her mind. “My dream is to write with SZA,” she shared. “She’s one of the coolest and best writers ever. I love her.”
Tate imagines their musical styles blending effortlessly, creating a sound that mixes pop and R&B. “I’d let her take the charge!” she admitted. “I just want to always keep pushing my comfort zone. I never want to recycle and do the same things. As an artist, I want to be uncomfortable and shock myself sometimes.”
Fresh off the release of her third studio album, So Close to What, on February 21, Tate has been keeping busy. The project includes I Know Love, a song she worked on with her boyfriend, The Kid LAROI.
Though collaborating with a romantic partner might sound fun, Tate admitted it wasn’t as easy as people might think. “It was a really funny process because me and Laroi have never really taken each other seriously,” she said, laughing.
“You know when you’re in a relationship, and you sing around each other, you don’t really sing. So, it’s a little stressful being in the studio, singing and writing in front of him, but it was a cool experience to watch him in his process,” she added.
