Taylor Swift Makes History With Four Albums Simultaneously On Billboard Top 10
Taylor Swift has once again broken records with an impressive achievement and cemented her place in music history. The talented singer, known for hits like Love Story and Shake It Off, has become the first female artist ever to have four albums charting in the Billboard Top 10 at the same time. This milestone comes hot on the heels of her latest album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which was released on July 7.
According to a report by Billboard, Taylor’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. Alongside this success, her previous releases Midnights, Lover, and Folklore are also holding strong on the chart at positions 5, 7, and 10, respectively. This incredible achievement has only been accomplished by three other artists in the entire history of Billboard: Herb Alpert in 1966 and late Prince in 2016 with five albums – Ultimate, 1999, Purple Rain, The Very Best of Prince, and The Hits/The B-Sides.
This makes her the first living artist in about 60 years to have up to four albums simultaneously claiming the top ten spots on Billboard’s 200 chart. Herb was the only other living artist to break the record with The Lonely Bull, Going Places, South of the Border, and Whipped Cream & Other Delights.
But Taylor’s feats don’t end there. Her latest album has also claimed the title of the biggest-selling album of the year thus far. With an impressive 716,000 album-equivalent units sold, it’s clear that the songstress’ star power knows no bounds.
Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is the singer’s third re-recorded and re-released album, in which she brought back timeless hits like Dear John, Mine, Back to December, and Ours. This album also marks Taylor’s 12th album to reach the number one position on the charts, solidifying her status as the female artist with the most number one albums in chart history. She even surpasses legendary singer Barbra Streisand, a testament to her incredible talent and enduring popularity.
Celebrating the album release on July 7, she wrote on Instagram, “It’s here. It’s yours, it’s mine, it’s ours. It’s an album I wrote alone about the whims, fantasies, heartaches, dramas and tragedies I lived out as a young woman between 18 and 20.”
“I remember making tracklist after tracklist, obsessing over the right way to tell the story,” she went further. “I had to be ruthless with my choices, and I left behind some songs I am still unfailingly proud of now. Therefore, you have 6 From The Vault tracks! I recorded this album when I was 32 (and still growing up, now) and the memories it brought back filled me with nostalgia and appreciation. For life, for you, for the fact that I get to reclaim my work. Thank you a million times, for the memories that break our fall.”
