Taylor Swift Reveals The Simple Things That Keep Her Grounded
Taylor Swift is keeping her feet and her heart firmly on the ground. During a chat on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, the 35-year-old singer opened up about finding balance, what truly matters and how love fits into her life these days. Fresh off the release of her 12th studio album, Life of a Showgirl, Taylor said she has finally learned to separate the chaos from the calm.
“Life is always chaotic, I think for everyone, no matter what, at any given time. But I do think that one thing I love about having been alive longer than I had been before, you know, you hopefully learn to sort of filter out what matters really,” she said.
That filter, she explained, has made her world simpler and more meaningful. “The things that do matter, it’s my family. It’s my relationship. It’s my friends. It’s my art. It’s baking. Genuinely, it’s my cats,” she continued. “Everything that is noise, you deal with it just like anything else.”
Taylor said she’s been through enough high-pressure moments to know that calm eventually returns. “It’s not like you’re impenetrable and immune to stress but I do know that it’s just stress. I’ve been through a lot of stress before just like everyone else and then you’re gonna be fine as long as it’s just stress,” she added.
The Blank Space singer also spoke fondly about her relationship with fiancé Travis Kelce, calling him one of the best parts of her current chapter. “I love the person that I am with because he loves what I do and he loves how much I am fulfilled by making art and making music,” she said. “That’s the coolest thing about Travis — he’s so passionate about what he does, that me being passionate about what I do, it connects us.”
She described their relationship as rooted in mutual admiration and shared energy. “We both, as a living, as a job, as a passion, perform for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums. We both do three and a half hour shows to entertain people for three and a half hours in NFL stadiums. When I’m in those stadiums, it’s a dressing room, but when he’s in those exact same stadiums, it’s a locker room,” she explained.
Taylor added that their competitiveness is playful, never toxic. “And we’re both competitive – in fun ways, not in ways that eat away at us, but just like … we just love it,” she said.
Her reflections come as Life of a Showgirl continues to make history. The album became Spotify’s most-streamed release in a single day this year, reaching that milestone in less than 11 hours.
