Teen Actor Jack Veal Reveals He’s Homeless Amid Mental Health Struggles
Jack Veal, known for his role as Kid Loki in Disney+’s Loki, has turned to social media to share his harrowing reality. The 17-year-old actor revealed he is currently homeless, living in a trailer with broken windows, and grappling with the challenges of mental health and an abusive past.
In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, Jack began, “Hi. I’m a famous actor, I’m 17, and I’m homeless.” The young actor claimed he fled an abusive home environment involving physical and emotional violence and has been struggling with mental health issues, including autism, ADHD, and potential bipolar disorder.
With nowhere to go after his grandparents’ home became unavailable due to his grandfather’s terminal illness, Jack alleged that social services refused to provide aid. “I’m desperate,” he admitted, adding, I am currently sleeping in a trailer that has smashed-in windows, is unsafe, and is two hours away from my work, which means I struggle to get to work every day.”
Jack’s emotional plea resonated with followers, many of whom rallied behind him to amplify his message. “The objective here is to get help from the people who are meant to provide it: social services,” he said in a follow-up video.
On December 3, Jack shared a moment of hope, revealing that social services had scheduled a meeting to discuss foster care and accommodations. Overwhelmed with gratitude, he told his supporters, “I don’t know what you guys have done but it’s gotten out there and it’s really, really helped me and they’re taking action now. They’re actually doing something so God bless you all.”
However, the optimism was short-lived. Following the meeting, Jack updated his followers, saying that the meeting “didn’t go well.”
“I went to the meeting and they’ve told me I need to be street homeless again or return home, which I can’t do, until they find me a foster care placement, which might take a while. They’re telling me days, which is probably gonna be weeks ’cause they lie, so I’m gonna have to be street homeless,” he added.
Jack alleged he was placed under Section 20 of England’s Children Act 1989, which provides a legal framework for child protection. Despite evidence of his situation, he claimed authorities have not yet secured accommodations for him. “Again, this is another call out for help. I had hope, but again, they’re not doing anything. They want to put me in foster care, but in the meantime, I have to stay on streets,” he stated.
In response, a representative for Islington Council acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, stating, “The safety and wellbeing of our residents is a top priority, and we’re determined to ensure that Islington’s young people grow up in a safe environment. We are working hard to find both emergency support and a longer-term placement for Jack. We have not at any time told Jack that he needs to be street homeless. We are urgently trying to secure a place for Jack to stay tonight.”
