The View’s Joy Behar Reveals Surprising First Encounter with Husband Steve Janowitz
In an unexpected revelation on a recent episode of The View, the outspoken Joy Behar, known for her no-nonsense attitude, shared a surprising tidbit about her love life. Joy, 81, and her husband, Steve Janowitz, have a unique and unconventional love story that began in a rather unexpected place.
During a lively discussion about Jason Kelce’s spirited behavior at a recent Kansas City Chiefs game, Joy took a moment to reflect on her own past. She admitted to not being up to date with Travis’ headlines, and when her co-host Whoopi Goldberg chimed in with a similar sentiment, it was clear that she was not alone.
It was Alyssa Farah Griffin who delved into the topic of being true to oneself in a relationship, suggesting that it’s important to “show your crazy upfront” so as not to surprise your partner later on. Sunny Hostin asked Joy if she had ever “ripped your shirt off,” to which Behar emphatically replied with a “no.”
That’s when the bombshell dropped: “Oh, she definitely has. She met her husband at a nudist colony!” declared Sara Haines, with Alyssa adding, “Partial nudist colony.”
Behar quickly clarified the details, explaining that while her husband was indeed nude at the time, she herself was fully dressed. “First of all, he was nude, I was dressed,” she quipped, while Haines stressed the importance of embracing one’s authentic self from the start of a relationship.
The couple’s unique story continues to intrigue. They met at a resort where Behar was “fully clothed,” a detail she emphasized, as Griffin humorously noted, “Neither does Steve!”
Their love story, however unconventional, stands as a testament to the power of authenticity and acceptance in a relationship. Behar and Janowitz dated for nearly three decades before finally tying the knot in a private ceremony on Aug. 11, 2011, in New York City. Behar once humorously remarked, “If he was going to get down on one knee, I wanted it to be during the time when he could still get up from one knee!”
This isn’t the first time Behar has shared the story of her memorable first encounter with her husband. In a previous episode of The View, she casually mentioned, “I don’t know if you know this about me, but I met my husband at a semi-nudist colony. It’s true.”
Behar explained that when they first spoke later that night, Janowitz was fully dressed for a movie night at the semi-nudist colony. But her recognition of him from earlier in the day marked the beginning of a unique love story that has endured the test of time.
