Vanessa Lachey Reflects On The End Of NCIS: Hawai’i, Wishes She Got “A Proper Goodbye”
Vanessa Lachey, known for her role as Jane Tennant in NCIS: Hawai’i, recently took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the show’s sudden conclusion. In a poignant post accompanied by a video from her husband Nick Lachey, Vanessa reminisced about the series that has left an indelible mark on her heart.
In her Instagram post dated May 1, Vanessa began by recalling the sentimental significance of a particular filming location, where she shot the first episode of the series. Sitting by the ocean at 2 am in June 2021, she poured out her hopes and aspirations for the show’s success, seeking protection and guidance.
As she wrote; “Forever your Sweet Jane… This was the same spot where I filmed episode 1. I sat here at 2am on June 2021 and stared into the ocean. I asked her to protect me, my family, my crew and our show. I told her we will do all we can to protect the grace and integrity of Hawai’i while also sharing her Beauty with the world. As I sat here today, knowing our show is over, I turned to her again… what do we do now….(please protect us all) She answered with ease.”
Reflecting on the transience of life, Vanessa likened it to the ebb and flow of the waves, emphasizing the importance of cherishing the moments we have and leaving behind a legacy for those who follow.
“Just as the air hits the water & the water hits the land, the waves connect to the shore, some with a huge impact, then… it goes back out. You see… we aren’t meant to be here forever, we are on borrowed time. We appreciate what was given to us for our use, we nurture it and then we leave it better for the next dreamer,” she stated.
Despite the show’s premature end, she expressed gratitude for the experiences and relationships formed on set, urging everyone to remember the beauty of their journey together.
Expressing her disappointment at the lack of a proper farewell, Vanessa extended her support to her fellow cast and crew members, urging others to recognize their talent and integrity. Signifying the enduring bond with fans, she bid farewell with the Hawaiian phrase “A Hui Hou,” meaning “until we meet again.”
Vanessa’s emotional post comes in the wake of the decision by CBS to cancel NCIS: Hawai’i, with the upcoming season finale marking the end of the series. Debuting in 2021, the show made history with Vanessa’s portrayal of Jane Tennant, the franchise’s first female lead.
