Wayne Brady Says He Wants A Vasectomy After Fathering Two Children: “I’m Done”
Wayne Brady may be ready to take a big step in his family planning. The Let’s Make a Deal host recently revealed on The Talk that he might be getting a vasectomy — after some playful nudging from his daughter, Maile Brady, and ex-wife, Mandie Taketa.
During a lively conversation on the show, which aired on September 23, Wayne, 52, joked about the idea, but it quickly turned into something he seemed ready to act on. “
The host and comedian was joined by his daughter Maile, Mandie, and her husband Jason Fordham to promote their reality show Wayne Brady: The Family Remix. During the episode, Maile, 21, playfully brought up the topic of her dad’s vasectomy, saying she “thought [the vasectomy] was happening.”
Mandie chimed in, asking if it was just a joke. Wayne responded with a laugh, “You know what, I will get a vasectomy.”
The audience roared with laughter as Wayne continued, “”Yeah. Look, I’ve already got two [kids]. I’m 52. I’m not Moses or somebody from the Bible that needs to go forth. Nope. I’m done. In fact, I should schedule an appointment right after the show.”
He even joked about scheduling an appointment right after the show. Maile doubled down, encouraging her dad to take a self-care weekend after the procedure, adding, “Keep that seat right there. Take a self-care weekend. Get some ice. Start praying.”
Wayne shares Maile with his ex-wife, Mandie, but he recently welcomed a second child, Val Henry, in 2022 with his ex-girlfriend, Tina. During an interview with PEOPLE in July, he opened up about the unexpected news of Val’s birth, saying he was “shocked” but determined to be a good father.
“I never want Val to grow up thinking that he should be ashamed or look back and go, ‘Oh, my dad didn’t want me,’ or he was ashamed of me. Because I want him, in his own way, to know that I love him as much as I love Maile, who is of me and that I had a part in creating. So I had to do that work,” he explained.
Wayne’s ex-wife, Mandie, also shared her thoughts on Val’s birth, expressing concern for the actor’s well-being. “”It was a struggle to begin with,” she said, recalling that they had just returned from her mother’s funeral when the news of Tina’s pregnancy surfaced.
Despite the ups and downs, Wayne remains committed to being a supportive father to both of his children. With Maile already an adult and Val still a toddler, he just might be ready to close the chapter on expanding his family. As he said on The Talk, “I’m done.”
