Whitney Leavitt Named Third Baby Before Birth
Reality star Whitney Leavitt, known for The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, and her husband Conner recently welcomed their third child into the world. The couple introduced their baby boy, Billy Gene, on October 24, as confirmed by a rep who spoke to PEOPLE. But this time around, Whitney did something she hadn’t done before — she chose a name before even meeting her newborn.
Normally, Whitney and Conner wait until after the birth to pick a name, but this pregnancy was different. “We fell in love with the name immediately — even before meeting him,” Whitney told PEOPLE, explaining that they broke their usual rule by deciding on the name Billy Gene before the delivery.
Though they kept the baby’s sex a surprise until birth, Whitney explained that having the name chosen ahead of time helped them connect with their little one. “The name allowed us to feel connected to the baby without knowing the gender,” she said.
One of the reasons they settled on the name Billy Gene was its gender-neutral appeal, which made it perfect whether they were welcoming a boy or girl.
Billy joins siblings Liam, 2, and Sedona, 4, who were both expecting to meet a baby sister. According to Whitney, Liam and Sedona “thought they were getting a new baby sister.”
“They were a bit surprised that they actually didn’t get to decide the baby’s gender!” Despite the initial shock, Liam and Sedona quickly warmed up to their new baby brother. Now, all they want to do is hold him and shower him with love.
Interestingly, Whitney had a strong feeling she was carrying a boy, since her pregnancy was so similar to when she was expecting Liam. According to her, she was confident Billy would be a boy. Still, discovering Billy’s gender in the delivery room was an emotional moment for her.
“Finding out the gender in the delivery room was a feeling of greater anticipation that I couldn’t wait for. Finding out we were having another boy was an overwhelming sense of emotion,” she stated.
