Why Priscilla Never Remarried After Elvis: “No One Could Ever Match Him”
King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, and his wife, Priscilla, divorced in 1973. Though Priscilla has had decades since their divorce and her husband’s death in 1977 to remarry, she never wed again.
Her seeming disinterest in remarrying mystified many. Recently, the 78-year-old Priscilla finally spoke up about why she never entertained marriage after Elvis.
While in Las Vegas, Priscilla took part in the Q&A at South Point Casino. During the conversation, she revealed the reason for her singlehood. According to Elvis’ ex-wife, she was worried about how Elvis would feel.
According to People, Priscilla admitted that she doesn’t think her famous ex-husband would be able to handle it if she became someone else’s wife. The Rock and Roll icon, who died at 42, never got the chance to remarry either, although news revealed that he did propose to his last known love, Ginger Alden. In a traumatic turn of events, Ginger was the one who found him dead on a bathroom floor.
It isn’t a secret that the ex-couple’s marriage was plagued with many issues. Elvis was known for having many illicit affairs. Both husband and wife admitted to being unfaithful to one another during their short marriage.
Though it’s been a long time since Elvis passed, Priscilla claimed she had other reasons for remaining single throughout the years. If you’ll recall, Elvis left her a widow while she was still in her early 30s—more than enough time to find another husband if she wanted.
Reflecting on her decision, Priscilla confessed, “To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire. No one could ever match him.”
But this doesn’t mean that Priscilla never had other romantic relationships. After her four-year marriage with the singer, Priscilla was romantically linked to Mike Stone, a karate instructor. However, they called it quits in 1975, two years before Elvis died.
In 1978, she dated model Michael Edwards with whom she shared an on-again off-again relationship until 1984. Over a decade later, in 1988, Michael published a book entitled Priscilla, Elvis, and Me. The title seemed to be patterned after Priscilla’s 1985 memoir, Elvis & Me.
Michael revealed that he was initially attracted to Lisa Marie and not Priscilla. But during their time together, the only daughter of Elvis Presley was still a minor.
In a shocking revelation, Lisa Marie revealed in 2003 during an interview with Playboy that her mother’s boyfriend, Michael, would sometimes try to get inside her room when he was drunk. She also described Michael showing inappropriate behavior towards her.
After Priscilla’s and Michael’s relationship ended, Priscilla spent 22 years with Marco Antonio Garcia, a screenwriter and computer programmer. They started their romantic relationship in the mid-1980s and welcomed their son, Navarone Garibaldi, in 1987. Navarone is Priscilla’s second child.
Unfortunately, they decided to call it quits in 2006. Aside from Michael and Marco, Priscilla has dated other men. The list includes photographer Terry O’Neill, lawyer Robert Kardashian, hairdresser Elie Ezerzer, and billionaire Kirk Kerkorian.
