Will Travis Kelce Play In Cleveland Again? NFL Star Reflects On The Possibility
Travis Kelce returned to Cleveland over the weekend, but the NFL star isn’t sure he’ll ever play in his hometown again. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end got emotional about the trip while chatting with his brother, Jason Kelce, on their podcast, New Heights, on December 18.
“It felt so surreal,” Travis admitted, adding, “I don’t know if it’s the last time I’ll ever play in Cleveland but it kinda felt like I was giving it one last hoorah before I’m done because you know I’ve only played there twice in 12 years.”
The Chiefs last played the Browns in Cleveland in 2018, and the two teams don’t face off often due to NFL scheduling quirks. Travis acknowledged this, saying, “Unless we get thrown in there in the next couple I don’t really see it ever happening again.”
For Travis, the trip was filled with nostalgia. He recalled feeling like a “tour guide” as the team arrived, pointing out familiar sights from the plane. “I have such a love and appreciation for how we grew up and the fun that we had and all the people that we knew that helped mold me to have the values that I have today.”
The Cleveland game wasn’t just about football for Travis; it was personal. “A lot of them were at the game,” he said of the people who shaped his early years.
He added, “It was just a special day for me personally.”
As the Chiefs continue their impressive season with a 13-1 record, they now turn their focus to a matchup against the Houston Texans at Arrowhead Field on Saturday.
Despite quarterback Patrick Mahomes nursing a mild high ankle sprain, Travis expressed confidence in his teammate’s resilience. “We all know Pat is one of the toughest guys in the league. He’s going to play through anything and everything that he possibly can all while making sure the team’s best interest is there,” he said.
Jason chimed in with reassurance, saying, “He’s going to tape it up. He’s going to be just fine.”
