Ciara Shares The Moment She Knew Russell Wilson Was “The One” On First Date
It was love at first sight for Ciara and Russell Wilson, and she knew it from the very beginning. During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 8, the Goodies singer, 38, reminisced about her first date with the NFL star and how that magical moment made her certain he was “the one.”
“When you know, you know,” Ciara said with a smile. From the moment they sat down for their first dinner, they were so engrossed in conversation that they completely forgot to eat.
In her words: “From day one, we sat down, we talked. It’s so funny, ‘cause we always laugh about the first time we met. We were talking too long and having such a good time and in such great conversation, we forgot to eat.”
What made that first date even more special was that both Ciara and Russell shared the same gut feeling. As they later revealed to each other, Russell told his friend in the elevator right after that date, “She’s the one.”
Meanwhile, Ciara called her best friend and longtime makeup artist, Yolie, who could immediately sense something special. “I called my best friend, Yolie, who’s my matron of honor, my makeup artist for legitimately 24 years — my best friend,” she continued. “I said, ‘Yolie, I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think…’ And she goes, ‘He’s the one?’ And I go, ‘Yes,’” the Body Party singer recalled.
Ciara, who shares her son Future Zahir with ex-fiancé rapper Future, introduced Russell to her first-born son and her father, Carlton Harris, not long after that first date. It was a moment that solidified her feelings even more. “We were all together in the house,” she recalled, “We were all in the house together. My dad was in the living room, Future was crawling on the floor, and there was a silver chair in the kitchen, and it was about to fall. [Wilson] legit slid across that kitchen, so smooth, and caught that chair, and I was like, ‘Oh, OK. I mean, it was pretty sexy, but it was pretty cute.”
The couple tied the knot on July 6, 2016, and have since built a beautiful family. In addition to her first-born, Ciara and Russell share three children – daughters Sienna Princess and Amora Princess, and son Win Harrison.
Russell’s commitment to fatherhood is something Ciara deeply admires. “He always has been, since day one, one to jump in and be about that life. He goes to the teacher-parent conferences. He’s into every detail. He’s making sure the sports and gymnastics and everything is lined up,” she stated.
