Dave Grohl And Wife Jordyn Blum Work Through Family Drama After Surprising Baby News
It’s been a rollercoaster few months for Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn Blum, after the Foo Fighters frontman shocked fans with the announcement of his fourth child — a baby girl born outside of his 21-year marriage to Jordyn. Nearly two months later, a source close to the family is saying that while Jordyn, 48, is still processing, things have calmed down, and she’s leaning on friends for support.
For Jordyn, who shares three daughters with Dave — 18-year-old Violet, 15-year-old Harper, and 10-year-old Ophelia —this has been an emotional time. Although she’s not yet wearing her wedding ring, sources say she’s being cautious, hoping to avoid hasty decisions that could impact their children.
As the insider revealed: “She doesn’t want to make any hasty decisions, since it’s all affecting their girls. She’s still unhappy and not wearing her wedding ring, but things have calmed down. She’s leaning on friends.”
After initially consulting a divorce lawyer, 55-year-old Dave appears committed to making amends and repairing his relationship with Jordyn. “He knows he messed up. It’s one of those situations where you don’t realize what you have until you’re about to lose it. He doesn’t want to lose his family.”
Dave admitted in September that his top priority is being “a loving and supportive parent” and that he’s committed to regaining Jordyn’s trust.
In the wake of the announcement, Violet, their eldest, briefly deactivated her Instagram account, likely in response to the media buzz. But she’s since returned to social media as the family focuses on moving forward together.
Dave and Jordyn’s love story began in 2001 when they met and dated briefly, but the timing wasn’t right. “I had decided I didn’t want to get serious about a relationship because I was single and I was running around — I was free,” Dave recalled in a 2003 interview. But when his bandmate Taylor Hawkins survived a serious health scare, it put things into perspective. “I had decided I didn’t want to get serious about a relationship because I was single and I was running around — I was free,” he told Teen People in 2003. “But that was the first thing I thought about when Taylor [Hawkins] came out of [his coma]: I had met the woman that I should marry and have children with and I hadn’t talked to her in months. She said, ‘You’re the last person I thought I’d ever hear from again.’ And I said, ‘Hey, let’s go to dinner,’” he said. They reunited, and by 2003, they were married, starting a family soon after.
For now, Dave is stepping back from performing with the Foo Fighters, even pulling out of September’s Soundside Music Festival to focus on his family. Sources say he is committed to “regaining the trust of the people he loves most.”
