Eddie Murphy And Martin Lawrence Delight In Their Kids’ Relationship And Dream Of A Comedy Super-Baby
Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are thrilled about their kids, Eric Murphy and Jasmin Lawrence, being in a relationship. In an interview with CBS Mornings on July 2, Eddie, 63, shared his excitement with Gayle King, calling it “cool” that their children are together.
“They’re both beautiful,” Eddie said, adding, “They look amazing together. And it’s funny [because] everyone keeps [asks], ‘What is that baby going to be funny?’”
The legendary comedian continued, “Just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby. If they ever get married and have a child, I’m expecting the child to be hilarious.”
Martin, 59, echoed Eddie’s sentiments during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in June 2022, joking about the potential of their kids having a “comedy super-baby.” He also mentioned that he and Eddie “stay out of their business… and respect their thing together,” adding with a laugh that he would “try to get Eddie to pay” for their wedding.
Eddie, however, had a witty response to Martin’s joke. In a conversation with Etalk in February 2023, he said, “That’s not how it goes. My daughter just got married, and I had to pay — really had to pay. You have to do the same, Martin.”
Eric, 34, is Eddie’s eldest of his 10 children, while Jasmin, 28, is Martin’s eldest daughter out of his three kids. The couple first went public with their relationship in June 2021 when Eric shared a loving selfie of them on Instagram, captioning it, “Head over heels in LOVE with YOU.”
Jasmin revealed more about their relationship in an InTouch Weekly interview in January 2022. She shared that they met through her uncle, not through their famous dads who have acted together in movies like Boomerang from 1992 and Life from 1999.
“It wasn’t even [through] our dads. And they’ve done two movies together, they’re friends,” Jasmin said, adding that she and Eric “became more” over time.
The two families have reportedly been supportive of the couple’s relationship. Eddie further expressed his joy about the couple during an appearance on TODAY in November 2023, mentioning that “Jasmin’s always at the house with Eric,” and spoke warmly about spending the holidays with them.
