“I’m Not Going Anywhere” — Hilaria Baldwin Continues To Show Support For Her Husband
Amidst the ongoing investigation into the accidental shooting and killing of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, Hilaria Baldwin stands by her husband, Alec, who was holding the gun.
The 38-year-old wife shared a photo on Instagram of her and her husband’s hands interlocked with the caption, “I am not going anywhere. Take all the time to be sad. I am here.”
Her loving and supporting post came just after Baldwin’s interview with CNN where he opened up about the accidental shooting. During the interview, Baldwin asserted that while he did pull the gun’s hammer back, he did not cock the gun and certainly did not pull the trigger.
The seasoned actor shared that he had hired a private investigator to look into what happened on set that day and was reassured that he would not be criminally charged. Baldwin’s attorney also shares the same confidence, further adding that if there are charges, it will be a massive miscarriage of justice.
However, despite the assurance that Baldwin and his team are feeling, a report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation makes the current situation uncertain. The FBI released a report stating that the gun used could not possibly have fired without Baldwin pulling the trigger. But, the report also noted that the gun did malfunction while it was being tested and go off without anyone pulling the trigger.
The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that the case will be passed over to the District Attorney.
Baldwin said during the interview that the tragic accident has “taken years off” his life and that he carries the weight of Hutchin’s death with him.
He went on to express his gratitude for his wife, Hilaria, who has served as his anchor throughout the past 10 months following the accident.
“If I didn’t have my wife, I don’t know where I would be right now. If I didn’t have her, I probably would have quit, retired, gone off, sold everything I owned, got a house in the middle of nowhere, and you know do find something else to sell real estate.”
The ordeal has also led to professional turmoil as Baldwin talked about getting fired from a job after months of being in talks with the other party. He was about to get on the plane but was told that the people involved in the film didn’t want to work with him because of what happened with Hutchins.
“Everybody adored her as a person,” said Baldwin in praise of Hutchins. “That she died, that’s the worst thing of all. Somebody died, and it was avoidable. It was so unnecessary. Every day of my life I think about that.”
