Kanye West Finally Settles His Divorce From Ex-wife Kim
Amidst all the recent outbursts and possible lawsuits, Kanye seems to be moving in the right direction because he is finally taking steps to finalize his divorce from Kim Kardashian. This comes over a year after Kim filed the paperwork.
Kanye’s attorney filed for a declaration of disclosure, a clear indication that the two are almost near the finish line and will finally be able to move on with their marriage officially ending.
With the submission of the documents, Kanye has given Kim’s legal team access to all of his financial information. Both parties have agreed upon the terms and procedures for dividing the finances, assets, and properties. The completion of this phase typically means that a settlement and final judgment will be reached and carried out within a few days or weeks.
Divorcing can settle most issues, especially their finances, but not the ones involving custody of their children. And based on Kanye’s tirades over the past few weeks, he may still fight Kim over this matter. The two share four children, 9-year-old North, 6-year-old Saint, 4-year-old Chicago, and 3-year-old Psalm.
Kanye has tried to oppose Kim’s plea to be legally declared single. Still, Kim emerged victorious on this matter, with a judge granting her the civil status “legally single” in March of this year.
Kanye ensured that he had the best legal representation possible, given that he tapped the services of Melinda Gates’ lawyer, who led her $130-billion divorce from Bill Gates. He also enlisted Robert Stephan Cohen as part of his divorce legal team.
Attorney Cohen is the sixth attorney that Kanye has hired to help him with this divorce. He allegedly went through a good number of other lawyers who, for one reason or another, came in and were then replaced.
If their separation and custody battle wasn’t controversial enough, the two are now in a different level of frosty relationship, thanks to Kanye’s irrational and shocking rants over the past few weeks. He had accused Kim of kidnapping his child during Chicago’s birthday celebration, stated that his former mother-in-law Kris was sleeping with Drake, and then the controversies associated with his White Lives Matter shirts.
Added to that are his anti-Semitic remarks that have damaged his friendships and relationships along the way. It was reported that Kim stopped answering her ex-husband’s calls after the White Lives Matter controversy and that the reality TV star has not directly communicated with Kanye for weeks now so she can focus on taking care of their four children.
Some friends of the couple wished that Kanye and Kim were still together because, obviously, Kanye is going through some mental health issues right now, and Kim is the best person to intervene. Many are certain Kanye will not only continue losing friends and businesses but also a good deal of money during this difficult time in his life.
