Keanu Reeves Gushes About Girlfriend Alexandra Grant: “The Heart Just Opens”
Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant turned heads on Dec. 16, during a glamorous date night at the Los Angeles premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 at the TCL Chinese Theatre. The couple looked stunning, exuding style and grace on the blue carpet.
Keanu, 60, wore a sharp dark suit paired with a striped tie, while Alexandra, 51, dazzled in a black gown with blazer-inspired front details, silver accents, and a sparkling silver clutch. In addition to showcasing their signature mix of elegance and understated charm, Keanu spoke about his woman.
“It’s really special to be side by side,” Keanu shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
The actor, who voices the enigmatic villain Shadow in the latest Sonic installment, gushed about the evening. “We got dolled up, and it was very exciting and just kind of nerve-wracking in the car, getting out,” he also said.
Keanu and Alexandra’s love story began as friends and collaborators before they went public with their relationship in 2019. Over the years, the couple has celebrated both their professional and personal bond. In a 2023 PEOPLE interview, Keanu affectionately referred to Alexandra as his “honey,” recalling a recent blissful moment they shared. “We were smiling, and laughing and giggling. It was just really nice to be together,” he said.
For Alexandra, who is an accomplished visual artist, the joy of their partnership is rooted in mutual inspiration and growth. She finds it cool that she already built her own career before falling in love, hence, putting her and her lover in the position to push each other to “build new roads.”
“Seeing the other person’s problem-solving is inspiring, like, ‘Oh, well, okay, this one, that’s a cul-de-sac. How do I try this other thing?’ He’s such an inspiration to me. He’s so creative, he’s so kind. He works so hard,” she added.
At the premiere, Keanu also shared his enthusiasm for his Sonic 3 role. In this new chapter of Sega’s beloved video-game adaptation, Keanu’s Shadow joins forces with returning favorites, including Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz as Sonic, and Idris Elba as Knuckles. The synopsis teases a high-stakes battle, with Team Sonic facing Shadow, whose mysterious powers push them to the brink.
When asked which Sonic superpower he’d like to have in real life, Keanu didn’t hesitate. “…I’m gonna take teleportation,” he said.
