Patrick Schwarzenegger Talks About Letting Fiancée Abby Champion Lead The Way In 2025 Wedding Plans
Patrick Schwarzenegger is a man who knows when to let his fiancée, Abby Champion, take the reins. As their wedding day approaches, Patrick, 30, is happy to step back and let Abby handle the planning. In a recent interview with GQ, the actor, who is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, shared that he’s playing a supportive role in the process.
Patrick’s approach is straightforward. “As I’ve learned, the role is just to make sure that she’s happy, just whatever she wants to do,” he said, adding, “I’m happy to give my opinion on things, and otherwise I’m just there to support her and make it so that she has the best day that she wants. That’s really my job.”
Patrick and Abby, 27, announced their engagement in December 2023 with a joyful Instagram post the day after Christmas. The post, filled with love and promise, showed off Patrick’s romantic beach proposal. Red rose petals, a large heart-shaped flower arrangement, and a celebratory cake decorated with a photo of the couple set the perfect scene for a forever commitment. Patrick’s message was clear: “💍❤️FOREVER AND EVER ❤️💍.”
The couple is eyeing a 2025 wedding, having had to push their plans due to Patrick’s busy filming schedule for the third season of The White Lotus. But there’s no rush; they’re savoring this time together and making sure everything is just right.
Patrick’s family couldn’t be more thrilled. His mother, Maria Shriver, shared her excitement on Instagram, posting, “So this happened, and I’m beyond thrilled! I’m beyond inspired. I’m beyond excited.”
She added, “I’m so happy for them, for their now, and for their future! Abby and Patrick, we all love you!”
The actor’s sister, Katherine Schwarzenegger, and her husband, Chris Pratt, also shared their joy, with Chris posting, “Epic!! Congrats @patrickschwarzenegger and @abbychampion. We love you both!”
The couple’s love story has even taken them to the fashion world. Patrick and Abby recently starred together in a Tommy Hilfiger campaign for the brand’s upcoming fall-winter collection, shot in New York City. For Patrick, this was a special opportunity to “showcase our relationship in a place like New York that just felt so beautiful and all-American and fall and Central Park.”
Their bond extends beyond the camera, with Abby and Patrick’s family playing a key role in his career. Patrick credits them for pushing him to pursue the role in The White Lotus.
“It’s something that me and my family and Abby [watched] each and every Sunday when it was out for the first and second season, especially during COVID,” he said. When the opportunity finally came, he knew he had to nail it, and he did just that.
