Pete Davidson Reveals That He Likes Assertive Women
Pete Davidson knows exactly what he wants when it comes to relationships! The Saturday Night Live alum recently shared his thoughts on dating, opening up about his preferences and past experiences.
During his January 31 appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Pete admitted that he’s comfortable with strong women making the first move. When Drew asked if men liked assertive women, Pete didn’t hesitate. “I do, because I grew up [with] all ladies in the house, so I act pretty feminine,” he said. He even joked, “I’m the girl, I think, whenever I’m in a relationship.”
Pete has a history of dating confident, high-profile women, including Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and most recently, Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline. However, he’s not a fan of the public obsession with his love life.
Back in March 2023, he opened up about how the media attention surrounding his relationships affected him. Speaking on Jon Bernthal’s Real Ones podcast, Pete expressed frustration. “I’m in my 20s, and I’ve dated people. And for some reason, that’s very crazy and interesting to people. I don’t think it’s interesting,” he said, adding, ” I don’t think it’s interesting. I’ve been in show business for, like, half my life almost — for 14 or 15 years and on a national TV show. In 12 years I’ve dated 10 people. I don’t think that’s that crazy, but to some people, that’s very interesting. That became all anyone would talk about.”
The comedian admitted that being famous for his dating life instead of his work was tough. “Suddenly you’re in this zeitgeist and that has nothing to do with the work. And that’s a really s—ty feeling,” he said. His time on SNL, where he starred for eight seasons, was also impacted by this.
“You’ve gotta walk out and do a sketch next and hit your mark and the show just made fun of you. So, why are they gonna laugh at you? Like, they just dogged you in front of everyone,” he revealed.
By December 2024, Pete had learned some valuable lessons. Speaking to W Magazine, he reflected on his journey and where he stands today. “I got hit on the face with the Hollywood shovel. It was a long time coming, and I needed it. I’m very happy where I am right now, mentally,” he shared.
Now, Pete is shifting his focus. “I just want to be known for doing good work. I want to be out there only when it’s [a] movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures… I don’t want to be this f—ing loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”
