Princess Kate and Prince William–Possible Fourth Baby?
The royal couple already has three children, but are seriously considering a fourth.
Back in February, the Duchess of Cambridge, age 40, admitted that having four children was always what she wanted, and that when the pandemic became hit she put this plan on hold. But, she never stopped dreaming of having a fourth child.
She and Prince William, who is also 40, have three children already: Prince George (age 9), Princess Charlotte (age 7), and Prince Louis (age 4). An inside source told Us Weekly that “Kate has been wanting another baby for a while now. She has always wanted four children, and while William was originally happy with three, she has managed to twist his arm.”
Earlier this year, Kate disclosed that her husband gets anxious when she meets babies. “William always worries about me meeting under-one-year-olds. I come home saying, “let’s have another one.” She also described herself as feeling “very broody.”
Just one month before Kate gave this statement, the couple made jokes while they were visiting a hospital about growing their family. Kate was holding someone else’s baby, and William remarked, “don’t give my wife any more ideas!” As Kate gave the baby back to its mother, William said, “you can’t take her back with you,” jokingly.
During January of 2020 Kate told a fan that she didn’t think William wanted any more babies. Fans have been speculating that the couple would welcome a new baby for years, though. Ever since the birth of their youngest, in fact, people have been assuming that there would be a fourth royal baby, likely because of Kate’s clear love for children.
Despite the future king’s anxiety surrounding more children, friends close to the couple have told Us Weekly that Kate may have gotten him to change his mind. “Their pals wouldn’t be surprised if we’ll be hearing an announcement early next year,” said the source.
Earlier this month, the princess paid a visit to the Royal Surrey Country Hospital, specifically to the hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit. This unit oversees and cares for babies that were born prematurely or smaller than what’s considered a healthy size. A mother at the hospital offered to let Kate hold her baby, to which the princess responded, “am I allowed to?” and can be seen in a photograph holding the baby fondly.
Last week, the couple shared compassion on their social media accounts for Baby Loss Awareness Week, which goes from October 9-15. Although they have never lost a baby of their own (that we know of), their hearts go out to anyone who has, and they shared resources and organizations that can help families who have lost babies.
Before we hear any news about a new royal baby (if we hear any), the couple is planning to take a trip to the United States this December, their first one in eight years. The wholesome and productive couple will be attending the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit which will take place in Boston. After that, whether or not they’ll have another baby is up for grabs.
