Samantha Hanratty Welcomes Baby Boy: “My World Got Brighter”
Actress Samantha Hanratty, best known for her role in Yellowjackets, has officially become a mom! The 29-year-old star welcomed her first child, a baby boy, with her husband Christian DeAnda. She shared the joyful news on Instagram on New Year’s Eve, posting a sweet black-and-white photo of her newborn’s tiny hand wrapped around her finger. “And just like that…my world got brighter☀️12-31-24,” she captioned the heartfelt image.
Samantha also took a moment on her Instagram story to reflect on how much life has changed, comparing last year’s lively New Year’s celebrations with this year’s quiet and intimate moments spent with her newborn son.
The actress first announced her pregnancy in August through an emotional Instagram video, writing, “Still in shock and it’s been 4 months! I will be sharing more from my journey because it has been a wild one! Come follow this new adventure ♥️♥️♥️.”
In September, Samantha shared a deeply personal update via TikTok, revealing her son had been diagnosed with a cleft lip and possibly a cleft palate. She admitted the news was initially shocking, as it didn’t run in either her family or her husband’s. “…the biggest thing we all want is for our kids to be happy and healthy,” she shared.
Samantha opened up about the challenges ahead, including the surgeries her son will need shortly after birth and the adjustments she’ll make to feeding, as nursing won’t be an option. “I am already preparing for the fact that I will not be able to nurse. I will be pumping and doing formula and it’s been emotional, but I think that both me and my husband are at peace with the fact that we know that he’s going to be okay,” she said.
Despite the worries, the actress found comfort in her son’s reassuring presence during her pregnancy. According to her, he kicks her whenever she gets sad or scared to let her know “that he’s fine and that he’s going to be okay.”
