Six Years To No-Forever: Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn Call It Quits!
After six years together, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have decided to go their separate ways.
According to ET, the Lavender Haze hitmaker, who is currently on one of her most extensive tours, Eras, and Joe, a UK actor, had an amicable split. There was no drama when the two decided to call it quits, and they handled the separation maturely.
An insider from Page Six also revealed that the pair allegedly broke up a few weeks ago and that “the relationship simply ran its course”. This is why Joe was missing in action during Taylor’s shows.
News of the breakup came amid conflicting news—another source had just commented that Taylor and Joe were fine a few days before the separation announcement broke out.
The same source provided a glimmer of hope, especially to fans and followers of the couple, when People shared that “Joe will travel with Taylor [on tour] when he can. They are a great couple. Joe is supportive of her career.”
Taylor and Joe were first linked together in 2016, and Taylor has been expressive of her feelings for the 32-year-old British hunk in her songs. The relationship between the two came about after the songstress was linked with Tom Hiddleston, the Loki actor.
Taylor and Joe were tight-lipped about their relationship, and the two made a Herculean effort to keep what they had out of the spotlight.
Recall that during Joe’s 2018 interview with Vogue, he acknowledged how the public had been curious about his relationship with the Grammy Awards winner. He was then praised for their commitment to keeping things private.
During that interview, Joe mentioned, “I’m aware people want to know about that side of things. I think we have been successfully very private, and that has now sunk in for people.”
Despite being together for years, the duo never made a red-carpet debut, one of the significant occasions where most couples confirm their relationship.
Joe has been part of Taylor’s previous three albums, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights, as he co-wrote the music with her under the name William Bowery.
Taylor has been known to give people messages through her songs, and in true Taylor Swift-style, she also dismissed rumors that she and Joe are already engaged through her hit track Lavender Haze, which opened Midnights, her 10th studio album.
In her song, Taylor belts out, “All they keep asking me / Is if I’m gonna be your bride / The only kinda girl they see/ Is a one night or a wife.”
Joe also mentioned to the Wall Street Journal in 2022 how frequently he is speculated to be engaged. He jokingly answered, “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins.”
In the same album, Taylor also used one of her songs, Sweet Nothing, which she and Joe co-wrote to express how Joe is the only person who has remained steadfast and genuine to her.
