Travis Kelce On Dating Taylor Swift: “It’s the Life I Chose”
Travis Kelce is having the time of his life, and it’s not just because of his career on the football field. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, now 34, has embraced his role as Taylor Swift’s other half, and he doesn’t mind being in the pop superstar’s spotlight.
Addressing his relationship in a pre-recorded interview on CBS Mornings, Travis laughed, “It’s the life I chose, I guess. I have fun with it.”
Travis has been enjoying the perks that come with his new relationship, from fun activities to exciting endorsements. “It comes with the territory of wanting to do fun activities like this and signing up for cool sponsorships like this and endorsement,” he explained, while filming a Pepsi commercial.
The new ad pays homage to the brand’s famous 2004 Gladiator-themed commercial featuring Beyoncé, Britney Spears, and Pink, which seems fitting given the level of fame Travis now shares with Swift.
When asked how his family is handling all the attention, Travis said the Kelces are loving it, especially his mom, Donna.
“Mama Kelce is having so much fun. I think my dad is slowly getting more comfortable with it, and Jason has always been a pro at it,” he explained, referring to his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Travis spent much of the summer traveling with Taylor on her record-breaking Eras Tour. He even joined her onstage during her June 23 show at London’s Wembley Stadium, showing his support in front of thousands of screaming fans. But when asked to name his favorite Taylor Swift song, the football tight end couldn’t pick just one.
“Oh, a bunch of them. They’re all my favorite, literally, every single one. You see me at a concert, you’ll see me singing them all,” he stated.
Despite his new high-profile relationship, Travis remains grounded. He opened up about why he believes people are rooting for him. “I hope it’s because they see I’m just a genuinely good person and I love what I do and I love doing it with the people that I’m doing it with. I’d rather give everybody happiness and something to cheer about than otherwise,” he stated.
While Travis’ football career is firmly established, it seems Taylor might be adding a creative twist to his playbook. Earlier this month, his teammate Patrick Mahomes let it slip that Taylor has been drawing up plays for Travis ahead of the NFL season.
During an interview on the Rich Eisen Show, he confirmed, “She’s a little biased and just creates plays for me. We’ll see if they can make it to Coach Reid’s office.”
“She had just been so open to learning the game, she didn’t know much about the rules or anything … I think she was just curious about the profession. I know none of the plays have gotten to Coach Reid yet, but if they ever do I’ll make sure everyone knows it was her creation,” he said further.
Travis and the Shake It Off singer first sparked dating rumors in September 2023, and Taylor attended her first Chiefs game soon after. Their relationship was confirmed the next month when they were spotted holding hands at a Saturday Night Live afterparty, and since then, they’ve been the talk of both the sports and music worlds.
