Camila Cabello Wows VMAs Audience With Explosive “Godspeed” Live Performance
Camila Cabello brought the house down at the 2024 MTV VMAs with an electrifying performance of her latest single, Godspeed. On September 11, the 27-year-old pop star took the stage at New York’s UBS Arena, delivering a show that had fans buzzing.
The performance began with a mysterious video clip of Cabello, blonde and singing her song June Gloom from her C,XOXO album. The video turned out to be playing on a laptop, which Camila dramatically smashed at the end of the performance. As the scene transitioned, she emerged in a stunning white dress with her signature brunette locks and bangs, captivating the audience from the start.
Camila stood solo inside a clear booth, surrounded by a group of fierce women wearing balaclavas, gripping bats and crowbars as if ready to break down the walls around her. As the ballad reached its climax, she smashed the laptop on the floor, symbolizing a powerful release. She then stepped out of the booth to join the dancers, finishing the song with explosive energy.
Godspeed, which was part of the Magic City Edition of Camila’s latest album released on September 6, has already become a fan favorite. Alongside the song’s release, the singer posted a video on social media with the caption, “I wish you well, but far away from me,” hinting at the song’s emotional depth.
In another post, she wrote, “Always more stories to tell. Some new songs for your night in Magic City.”
This marks Camila’s third appearance at the VMAs, but it certainly wasn’t her only highlight of the night. The four-time Grammy nominee earned two nominations this year – Best Pop and Best Trending Video for her collaboration with Playboi Carti on I Luv It.”
The 2024 VMAs also featured a star-studded lineup, with performances from artists like Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Chappell Roan, Anitta, and more. Katy Perry, who returned to the MTV stage for the first time in seven years, received the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and performed a medley of her greatest hits, celebrating her legendary career.
