Elton John Confirms New Music Is Coming: “The Juices Have Never Dried Up”
Elton John isn’t slowing down anytime soon! The iconic Rocket Man singer delighted fans with news of upcoming music during his December 17 appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The legendary artist, who wrapped his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July 2023, hinted at what’s next for his incredible career.
“You will be getting some more [music],” Elton, 77, confirmed when Stephen, 60, asked if his creative juices were flowing again.
“The juices have never dried up. They never want to dry up because I’m always looking to create things. It’s just having the space now to do it at my own time. Of course there will be new Elton John music,” he added.
Elton’s visit to Stephen’s show was part of the promotion for his new documentary, Elton John: Never Too Late. The film offers an intimate look at his life on and off stage, reflecting on the early days of his career, his battles with adversity, and how he became the global icon we know today.
A synopsis for the documentary describes it as an “emotionally charged, intimate, and uplifting full-circle journey.” It takes viewers back to Elton’s extraordinary highs and heartbreaking lows, including his struggles with addiction and his ultimate triumph over life’s challenges.
However, Elton’s path hasn’t been without its recent struggles. In the summer of 2023, he revealed via Instagram that he suffered an eye infection, leaving him with limited vision in one eye. While he initially said the healing process was slow, Elton later shared in November on Good Morning America that the infection had completely taken away sight in his right eye. “I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything,” he said.
Despite this, Elton remains optimistic and creatively driven, with music and storytelling remaining central to his life.
