Kelly Clarkson’s Post-Divorce Album “Chemistry” Follows the Ups and Downs of Love
Kelly Clarkson is back and better than ever as she recently revealed the title of her highly anticipated post-divorce album — “Chemistry.”
Clarkson has always been an artist who has been committed to making music that speaks to the human experience rather than relying on gimmicks or outlandish performances to gain attention. The Grammy award-winning singer has always been known for her powerful vocals and relatable lyrics, and it seems like “Chemistry” will be no exception.
On Sunday, Clarkson took to social media to announce the news, revealing that the album follows “the arc of an entire relationship.”
It’s no secret that the first-ever winner of “American Idol” and chart-topping artist has faced personal struggles in recent years, including her divorce and ongoing custody battle with her ex-husband. But despite this unglamorous backdrop, Clarkson stated that her new record would not be a diss album.
“I was trying to find a word — also, it might be one of the songs on the album — but I was trying to find a word that really described the whole thing,” she explained in her Instagram video. “I didn’t want everybody to think I was just coming out with some ‘I’m angry,’ ‘I’m sad’ — just one or two emotions. This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship.”
She explained that each song represents a different stage of a relationship, from the initial attraction to the eventual breakup.
“That whole relationship shouldn’t be brought down to one thing. There’s the good, the bad, and the ugly kind of thing going on. Chemistry can be a really amazing, sexy, cool, fun thing, but it can also be very bad for you. So that’s why I named it Chemistry, I thought it was the perfect title to describe the entire album.”
Clarkson’s divorce from Brandon Blackstock was finalized in March 2022. The singer has been open about her struggles with the divorce and how it has impacted her music. And Clarkson’s fans have been eagerly anticipating her new album’s release. In fact, Billboard described the album as an “emotional journey” that reflects her personal experiences.
Although the release date for “Chemistry” has not yet been announced, Clarkson has assured fans that it is “coming soon.”
“When I say soon, I mean really soon,” she said on Instagram, adding that she feels nervous about releasing it but is still excited.
Whether you’ve been a lifelong Kelly Clarkson fan or are hearing her music for the first time, “Chemistry” promises to be a dramatic and emotional trip that will leave an indelible impression. So, mark your calendars and get ready for one of the year’s most anticipated albums.
In addition to her singing career, Clarkson has lately made waves for her daytime talk show “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” which debuted in 2019 and has already received many Emmy Awards. Clarkson also made history when she became the first person to win three Daytime Emmy Awards in a single season.
And as for her personal life, it seems that Kelly is taking things one day at a time and focusing on what’s most important — her family.
