Rich the Kid Reveals Shocking News – Kanye West Retiring from Music?
According to rapper Rich the Kid, Kanye West, also known as Ye, might be waving goodbye to the music industry. The 47-year-old rapper and producer allegedly declared his retirement from music, as alleged by Roch the Kid, but the details remain unclear.
In a since-deleted screenshot of a text exchange posted by Rich the Kid on July 9, Ye reportedly wrote, “I am retiring from professional music.”
As to why he would be quitting his professional music career, Ye hinted that he’s “not sure what else to do” in music.
Rich the Kid, clearly shocked, responded with disbelief: “Retire? Why? How? The ppl NEED you the music you & Ty & we have made was the BIGGEST STAMP in culture to this date in 2024. Drop Ye about mine & V@ and we do it all over again the kids need you big bra fasho maybe some time to chill but retiring ain’t it.”
Despite the retirement talk, Rich the Kid soon announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he’s dropping new music featuring Ye on his upcoming album, “Life’s a Gamble.”
He confirmed the release date with a post saying, “ACTUALLY WE DROPPING FRIDAY 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 7/19.”
The album’s track list includes a collaboration with Ye titled Plain Jane and the single Gimme a Second 2 featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Peso Pluma. Another track, Carnival, features Playboi Carti and Ty Dolla $ign and was part of the Vultures 1 album with Ye that dropped in February, peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Kanye’s retirement news comes weeks after he and Ty Dolla $ign were set to release their sequel project, Vultures 2, on May 3. The duo, known as ¥$, received a 2024 BET Award for best group thanks to their first album together.
According to Ty Dolla $ign’s Instagram post, the pair are planning to bring their Vultures listening experience to Korea on August 23. However, it’s unclear if they’ll perform the follow-up project, which still doesn’t have a confirmed release date. In a recent Billboard cover story, Ty Dolla $ign mentioned that Vultures 2 is almost done and could drop anytime soon.
