Sabrina Carpenter Celebrates New Album On The Tonight Show, Celebrates Praise From Adele
Sabrina Carpenter, the 25-year-old pop sensation, has had the world wrapped around her finger with her chart-topping hits, but she’s still getting used to the spotlight. This summer, Sabrina dominated the music scene with her smash singles Espresso and Please, Please, Please, the latter rumored to be inspired by her on-again, off-again romance with actor Barry Keoghan.
Despite the whispers of a split, Sabrina is channeling her emotions into her music, with her highly anticipated album Short n’ Sweet dropping this Friday.
On Thursday, Sabrina took her excitement to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she celebrated the release of her new album. During the show, Sabrina was blown away to learn that even global superstar Adele is a fan of her music.
“It was mind-blowing,” Sabrina gushed as Jimmy revealed that Adele had been singing her hit Espresso at her Las Vegas Residency in May. “That Sabrina Carpenter song!… That song is my jam!” Adele had exclaimed, leaving Sabrina overwhelmed with joy.
“It’s Adele! One name, that’s it,” Sabrina marveled, still in disbelief that her music had reached such heights.
During the interview, Jimmy also shared some impressive stats about Sabrina’s recent success. “You became the first artist since the Beatles to have two songs debut within the top three on the Billboard Hot 100,” he revealed, referring to Espresso and Please, Please, Please.
Sabrina, still in awe, joked, “The Beatles one sounds fake… But there’s one of me and four of them. So I don’t understand. The math doesn’t math!”
Sabrina’s rise to fame has been nothing short of meteoric. She’s set to embark on her first-ever arena tour, the 47-date Short n’ Sweet Tour, kicking off on September 23 in Columbus, Ohio.
“I’m so small and the stage is so big, so I don’t really know what I will do other than I want it to be the best show for everybody that’s attending,” the singer shared, clearly eager to connect with her fans on a grander scale.
Adding to her list of accomplishments, Sabrina is also one of the performers at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, airing on September 10 from the UBS Arena in New York. She’s up for six Moonperson trophies, including Song of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Best Pop, among other technical awards.
While her career is skyrocketing, fans remain just as intrigued by Sabrina’s love life. She and actor Barry Keoghan made their red carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala in May, sparking a frenzy of interest. The pair first met at Paris Fashion Week last year and were later spotted on dates, but their relationship has been reportedly “on and off.” Rumors swirled that Sabrina had called things off due to Barry’s wild partying and erratic behavior, but sources now suggest that their relationship status remains undefined.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Sabrina playfully dodged questions about Barry, saying, “How do I skirt around this question?” She acknowledged that while her songs are often reflections of her personal life, she’s not surprised that fans are curious about who inspired them. “That’s something that comes with the territory,” she concluded.
