Suki Waterhouse Raves About “Once in a Lifetime” Opportunity as Eras Tour Opener
After her one-night gig opening for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in London, Suki Waterhouse took to Instagram to gush about her experience.
She said in the caption, “Thank you @taylorswift for this once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in my beloved London and for the unwavering support in my own journey as an artist. You are the world’s biggest and brightest star, I love you so much.”
The 32-year-old singer said that the last time she was in Wembley—the iconic stadium that seats 90,000 and has hosted the world’s biggest artists—she was at Taylor Swift’s 2018 Reputation tour.
On August 17, she opened for Swift’s record-breaking show, “with my friends and family in the crowd.”
Waterhouse posted a carousel of photos documenting the evening: a photo of her and Swift in full costume, rehearsing in an empty stadium, peering at a mirror while getting ready backstage, and various shots of her performing onstage wearing a custom Chloé gown that was “the dress of my dreams.”
The post also included a video of Swift during the concert, saying, “[Waterhouse] is someone I get to call a friend; I’ve been such a fan of her music for so long. She absolutely crushed it here tonight. And this was her hometown show; give it up for Suki Waterhouse!”
The last photo on the post is an old picture of Waterhouse wearing a t-shirt with Swift’s 1989 album cover printed on the front. At the end of the caption, Waterhouse said: “My nervous system will never be the same after last night. Someone go tell this girl on the last slide she just opened for ERAS BABY!!! ❤️”
In a Rolling Stone interview published just days before the concert, Waterhouse talked about the Eras Tour gig. She said, “I was dreaming, dreaming, dreaming of this happening. I was manifesting super hard. So when [I found out], I was like, yes, dreams can come true.”
Paramore Shouts Out Mr. Waterhouse
Later that evening, the rock band Paramore—the second opener for the show—played their song Decode for the first time since 2018.
The lead singer, Hayley Williams, shouted out Waterhouse’s performance: “Did you guys see Suki earlier? Suki f*cking killed it.”
After prompting a round of applause from the crowd, Williams cheekily continued, “But I would like to dedicate this next song to Mr. Waterhouse,” referring to Waterhouse’s fiancé, Robert Pattinson. “He has the skin of a killer, Bella. This is for you, Robert.”
The track was originally released in 2008 as the lead single of the official Twilight soundtrack and went on to become a massive international success.
