Taylor Swift Reawakens Strife With Kim Kardashian With The New Album Midnights
It was 13 years ago when the alleged feud between Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian happened, and all’s been forgotten—or not.
MTV video award winner Taylor Swift is set to release her new album, which may be a coincidence, but the pop star announced that she would drop the album on October 21, the same date as Kim Kardashian’s birth date.
This led to speculations that not all is forgotten and forgiven and that the move is a subtle dig at the reality influencer. Swift and Kardashian had a long-standing feud that allegedly ended in 2021. This Taylor Swift decision has fans from both parties questioning if there’s still some bad blood.
Fans were quick to share their thoughts on Twitter about the upcoming release, all appearing to be linked to the famous Kardashian. One mentioned, “Taylor Swift announcing a new album on the 13th anniversary of the Kanye West VMA show, five years after the premiere of LWYMMD at the VMAs, which will drop on Kim Kardashian’s birthday, is ICON behavior.”
Another commented, “It’s been 13 years since that Kanye-Taylor moment at the VMAs, and now Taylor decides to announce her brand new album with 13 tracks at the VMAs today that will be released on October 21, which also happens to be Kim K’s birthday. Her mind!”
Enthusiastic and loyal “Swifties” pointed out the irony of the singer-songwriter’s announcement at the recently concluded VMAs. They were quick to note that this comes 13 years after Kanye West, Kim’s ex-husband, appallingly interrupted her acceptance speech when she won the 2009 VMAs Video of the Year.
Taylor’s beef with West triggered Swift’s feud with Kardashian. In 2016, West released a song that included the lyrics: “I feel like me, and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that b***h famous.”
The Love Story singer was upset over the scandalous lyrics, but Ye claimed that Swift gave her blessing for the said lyrics.
Kim then called Taylor a snake for pretending not to know that Kanye would be referencing her “a b***h” in the song.
Taylor was very open afterward about the backlash and attacks she received and endured after being likened to a snake. She once shared, “A mass public shaming, with millions of people saying you are quote-unquote canceled, is a very isolating experience.”
The hostility between the Kardashian-West and Swift parties worsened when a phone call between the two song artists was leaked, with each accusing the other of manipulating and editing the audio. Kim threw hints that the feud was far from over in March 2020 when she openly accused Swift of not being truthful about the 2016 phone call with her then-husband.
But Kim was singing a different tune during an interview in 2021 when she was asked what her favorite Taylor Swift song was, and she answered, “I like a lot of her songs. They’re all super cute and catchy. I’d have to look in my phone to get a name.”
And this time, Taylor is about to begin the next chapter of her vendetta with Kim. The songwriter teased her fans more by sharing a few contexts about the content of her album with the conclusion, ‘Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.”
