A Sneak Peek at Next Season of The Voice
2023’s run of The Voice will still have a couple familiar faces, as well as some new ones. The announcement of next season’s coaches started with Instagram.
Niall Horan, former member of One Direction, posted a blank white photo on October 11 on his Instagram with a peace sign emoji in the center. Kelly Clarkson (coach on The Voice for seven seasons so far) was tagged. The peace sign is The Voice’s logo, so along with the Clarkson tag, as well as the show’s official account commenting on his post, fans put the pieces together.
Kelly Clarkson, who was the first winner of American Idol two decades ago, has been a coach on The Voice for nine seasons, as well as having her own show.
Clarkson posted an identical photo on that same night, tagging Chance The Rapper, who built himself a strong fanbase a few years ago, before taking time off from music to spend time with his family. He and his wife, who he met when he was just nine years old, have two daughters together, ages 7 and 2.
But it seems that Chance has enough time to take on a new project, as upon viewing the rapper’s Instagram, low and behold, the same photo is posted, with this one tagging Blake Shelton, coach of The Voice for 22 seasons thus far. Shelton posted the same, tagging Niall Horan, tying the next season’s coaches together.
The show has been around for 22 seasons, all of which Blake Shelton has been a part of. With his announcement of being a part of the next season, he also said that next season will unfortunately be his last, giving thanks to the opportunities and joy that the show has brought him.
“I’ve been wrestling with this for awhile and I’ve decided that it’s time for me to step away from The Voice after season 23,” he wrote on Instagram, “this show has changed my life in every way for the better and it will always feel like home to me. It’s been a hell of a ride over these 12 years of chair turns and I want to thank everyone at The Voice from NBC, every producer, the writers, musicians, crew, and catering people, you are the best.”
His post continued, “I’ve made lifelong bonds with Carson and every single one of my fellow coaches over the years, including my wife, Gwen Stefani! I have to give a huge shout out to the singers – the ‘Voices’ who come on this stage season after season amaze us with their talent and special thanks to those who chose me to be their coach.” Lastly, he thanked fans for their ongoing support.
While this will be the last season with Blake Shelton, it seems that he’s making the best choice for himself and this time of his life. The show does not appear to be ending soon, so viewers will surely get plenty of laughs, intensity, and of course a huge dose of talent as they continue to watch The Voice.
