Andrew Garfield Cast to Play a Billionaire in New Limited Series
Andrew Garfield is set to star in a new limited series titled Hot Air. The show comes from Universal International Studios, and several streaming services are in competition to gain the streaming rights once the series is ready to release.
The show is about Richard Branson, a billionaire who is under attack by British Airways. The company is trying to destroy Branson’s airline, Virgin Atlantic. The UK airline wanted to ruin Branson’s brand because of its growth and potential, and the fact that it was the airline’s biggest competition.
British Airways would hire people to hack into Virgin Atlantic’s computers and impersonate employees, while also trying to gain intel from other employees. Some of the hackers would even reach out to customers and try to convince them to switch over to British Airways for any future or current flight needs.
Once Richard Branson discovered what was going on due to being tipped off, he sued British Airways and won, destroying all credibility of his competition. British Airways suffered from the bad press and began to spiral downwards economically. They also had to pay Branson a large fee for damages after they lost in court.
This story is based off of the book investigative journalist Martyn Gregory wrote titled Dirty Tricks. This book ended up uncovering the scandal and putting both airlines under a microscope.
The show is written by Jon Croker, and will be directed by David Leitch. Leitch has been behind the direction and production of many popular films, including Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and the 2014 John Wick.
Andrew Garfield has been busy over the past few years. He was recently nominated for an Emmy for his acting in Under the Banner Of Heaven. Garfield also recently starred in Spider-Man: No Way Home and returned to the role that helped jumpstart his career.
