Blake Lively Channels High School Nostalgia At “It Ends With Us” Premiere
Blake Lively had a nostalgic moment at the New York City premiere of her latest film, It Ends With Us. On August 7, the star reflected on her high school days in an Instagram Story, sharing a video from Vogue that featured her and husband Ryan Reynolds on the red carpet the night before.
“Just like homecoming Sophomore year … I didn’t have a date to the dance so instead I went with my best friend,” Blake wrote, tagging Ryan, 47.
At the premiere, the 36-year-old actress wowed in a vintage Versace gown originally worn by Britney Spears in 2002. Confirming to PEOPLE, she said the dress was the “actual” one Britney wore over 20 years ago.
Ryan, meanwhile, complemented her look with an olive-green suit and a white floral boutonniere, a nod to Blake’s character, Lily Bloom, who works as a florist in It Ends With Us. Blake expressed her gratitude for Ryan’s support, saying, “it’s the best” to have him by her side.
Blake spoke to PEOPLE about her character Lily’s journey in the film. “This movie is a movie about a woman who experiences every color of human emotion and the people who love her and support her along the way,” she said, feeling “so grateful” for the support she received at the premiere.
Blake was joined by her co-stars, including Justin Baldoni (who also directed the film), Brandon Sklenar, Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Isabela Ferrer, and Alex Neustaedter. Author Colleen Hoover, who wrote the bestselling novel the film is based on, was also in attendance, along with Hugh Jackman, Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine co-star.
Ryan’s presence at Blake’s premiere mirrored her support for him at the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere last month. On the July 22 red carpet, Blake joked with PEOPLE, “I feel like he’s my plus-one. That’s the energy I’m giving. He’s here supporting me, and I’m very grateful for his support tonight.”
Discussing their romantic relationship on Live with Kelly and Mark, Blake, who married Ryan in 2012 and shares four children with him, said, “I think we’re both pretty romantic. We both love love.”
She also highlighted their recent collaboration with director Baz Luhrmann in a Vogue editorial spread featuring their close friend Jackman, 55.
“I’ve never associated better with someone than Baz Luhrmann, who just, everything is like, love and fireworks and romance. And my husband is the only man I’ve ever known who sees life that way,” Blake added on Live.
