How NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye” Is Back On Top Thanks To “Deadpool & Wolverine”
Decades after its original release, *NSYNC’s hit song Bye Bye Bye has put them back in the spotlight, and it’s all thanks to a new film. The iconic boy band’s hit track, which became a global sensation in the early 2000s, has re-entered the Billboard charts, climbing all the way to No. 8 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart and securing a spot at No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100. So, how did this happen? The answer lies in the blockbuster success of Deadpool & Wolverine.
The film, which has taken the world by storm, grossing over $1 billion globally, features Bye Bye Bye in a memorable opening sequence that has fans buzzing. The movie has topped the box office for three consecutive weekends, raking in $494.3 million domestically, and it’s no surprise that *NSYNC’s classic hit is riding that wave of success.
At the New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine, *NSYNC members JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone were all smiles as they celebrated the movie’s release. The group posed alongside actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, with Chris standing out in Deadpool red while the others opted for more neutral tones.
Missing from the festivities was Justin Timberlake, who was on tour in Europe, but Ryan made sure to give him a shoutout on social media, saying, “Justin Timberlake not pictured but no less appreciated.”
Ryan, who plays Deadpool, took to social media to express his gratitude to the band, writing, “These guys had such a huge hand in making a particular Deadpool & Wolverine sequence one of my all-time favorites. Can’t thank them enough for their kindness, talent, and good fellowship.”
He also shared some behind-the-scenes details about the dance sequence featuring Bye Bye Bye, explaining that choreographer Nick Pauley, dressed in a Deadpool suit, pulled off the iconic moves inspired by *NSYNC.
“If it looks like the person who’s dancing doesn’t have arthritis, that’s him,” Ryan joked.
The movie, known for its blend of action and nostalgia, didn’t stop with *NSYNC’s iconic track. It also featured other throwback hits like Madonna’s Like A Prayer, The Greatest Show from Jackman’s The Greatest Showman, and the Goo Goo Dolls’ Iris.
