Jim Parrack Reveals Key Scene Cut From “9-1-1: Lone Star” Finale
As the 9-1-1: Lone Star series finale approaches, Jim Parrack is opening up about a key moment from the episode that never made it to the screen. The actor, known for his role as Judson Ryder in the popular FOX procedural, shared his thoughts on the emotional weight of filming the show’s final chapter — and the bittersweet loss of what he calls the “most important scene” to him.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jim said, “There was actually a whole two- or three-page prayer that I shot on the back porch of the house that got reduced to a little flashback, but that was incredibly cathartic.”
“We shot this whole sequence where Judd downed a whole bottle of alcohol and was kind of angry at God and then begging God to do something and show up, but it only ended up being a little flash.”
Jim admitted he was disappointed the scene didn’t make the final cut, but he understands the tough choices that come with creating a series finale.
The end of 9-1-1: Lone Star comes as FOX announced in September 2024 that the Rob Lowe-led drama would wrap up with its fifth season. The finale is set to air on February 3.
Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network, described the conclusion as a fitting tribute to the series’ legacy. According to him, the final season will provide the “high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres.”
Michael also praised the show’s creators, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, calling them “one of the greatest creative teams in all of television” and commending their ability to craft “one of the most action-packed dramas anywhere.”
For Jim, the finale is more than just a goodbye to the characters — it’s also a heartfelt farewell to the cast and crew who’ve shared the journey. Predicting that fans will see how much Austin’s 126 firehouse unit means to each other,” he said, “There was this real merging of how we all felt about it being the end and with the 126 facing what seems like could really be the end.”
