Law & Order: Special Victims Unit Star Kelli Giddish Bids Co-stars Farewell And Thanks Fans As She Leaves NBC Show
Ahead of her final episode on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Kelli Giddish said goodbye to her co-stars on the drama series.
The actress, who has played the character Detective Amanda Rollins for 11 years, posted a slideshow of photos with the police procedural and legal show’s lineup of actors. The first photo featured her and lead Mariska Hargitay. The two can be seen beaming with smiles as they hugged on a park bench.
Another photo showed her and actor and rapper Ice-T who played the role of Detective Odafin Tutuola. The two had wide grins on their faces as they posed in the sun, wearing bullet-proof vests. Judging by their costumes, the photos were taken on the set of the show.
The actress’s photo rundown also included a shot she took with Peter Scanavino, whose character, ADA Dominick “Sonny” Carisi Jr., she was set to marry in her final episode. The onscreen couple was joined in another photo by Ice-T and Mariska.
The fourth slide showed Kelli and Mariska in bright floral dresses as they posed behind the “MANHATTAN SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT” signage that is all too familiar to viewers of the show. While their faces were covered in a mask, their eyes and posture tell the story that it was a good day on set.
Letting the photos do most of the talking, Kelli thanked her fans and supporters of her character in the caption. “To everyone who supported Rollins – THANK YOU!” she wrote.
In the comments was Mariska, who publicly shared her love for her departing friend. “I love you lady. Now and forever! XOXO,” she commented.
Also cheering her on were other celebrities who also sent in comments. “Congratulations!!! You are phenomenal!” Best Friends Forever star Lennon Parham wrote. American Auto and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt actor Michael Washington commented, “Iconic.”
NBC held a “send-off” for their departing actress on their Instagram page with a video compilation of Detective Rollins’ most memorable moment on the show. The third-ranked video was when Kelli and Peter’s characters shared their first kiss. Rollins had pulled Carisi in for a kiss after the two stared longingly at each other for a moment. The second memorable scene was a teary one in which Rollins opened up about getting shot to Olivia Benson (Mariska’s character).
The television network chose the most emotional video – Kelli’s last day – as no. 1. In the video, she walks into the office filled with co-stars amidst claps and cheers. She then goes on to hug each of them. “That’s what’s up. I’m gon miss you, boo,” a voice-over goes at the end.
