Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes to Star in Netflix’s Do Revenge
To bond over ambitions of revenge is to create a lifelong connection, whether you want to stay connected or not. Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes will star as two girls with a common goal: retribution.
What is Do Revenge about?
Camila Mendes plays Drea, the classic popular girl who’s sex tape has been leaked by her boyfriend. Maya Hawke plays Eleanor, a new girl who gets outed by a bully because of an old rumor. The two girls’ paths cross, and they realize that they just may be able to help each other.
The girls switch targets and join together to get revenge on the people who wronged them. As the two girls deal with their bullies and enemies, they form an unexpected bond.
This dark comedy is all about growing up in today’s society, and focuses on many different themes. For example, the creator, Jennifer Robinson, wanted to show an audience that everyone can be both the villain and the hero in their own stories. No one person is all good or all bad throughout the stages of adolescence.
Another main theme is the idea that not all information is correct, and many people will make quick judgments off of misinformation from social media or word of mouth. Not everything is as it seems, and everything should be verified before you do something that could potentially change someone else’s life.
Who all is in the Do Revenge cast?
Maya Hawke, known for her fan favorite role as Robin in Stranger Things, will act alongside Camila Mendes as the two main protagonists. Camila Mendes is also used to playing a teenager, since she has devoted seven seasons of acting to her character Veronica in Riverdale.
Euphoria’s Austin Abrams will play Drea’s ex-boyfriend, and 13 Reasons Why’s Alisha Boe will star as Drea’s best friend. Sophie Turner, Talia Ryder, Eliza Bennett, and Rish Shah will be joining the cast as well.
Do Revenge will arrive on Netflix on September 16, 2022.
