Miley Cyrus Is Ready To Play Godmother Dolly Parton In Biopic
Miley Cyrus not only has the vocal chops required to play godmother Dolly Parton in a future biopic. She also has special connections with the older star. And when asked if she would love to take on the role, she simply said she feels like she is playing Dolly already.
“Me and Dolly have never really spoken, honestly, about me playing Dolly because I feel like I’m already doing it,” she told E! News.
For the Hannah Montana star, getting into Dolly’s look would not be too hard as she said she is “sucked, tucked and plucked,” just like the 76-year-old taught her.
However, the physical semblance might be a challenge as Miley does not have Dolly’s sizable bust. When it comes to that and the blonde hair the Jolene singer is known for, the younger star said she doesn’t know what “they’re gonna do” to her. But she is ready to play the role either way.
While there is no plan for Miley to play Dolly in place, the two are teaming up soon to co-host the second annual Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party live from Miami. Together, they will be welcoming celebrity guests for a special that will air on NBC.
About the special, Miley revealed that it would be very different from last year’s, which she co-hosted with Pete Davidson.
“Because we do something similar, we get to do a really different show than we did last year,” she said.
According to her, the goal of her and executive producer Lorne Michaels for the annual special is to always pull a different angle every year and “do it in a way that’s exactly what you want, but not what you would expect.”
Miley is confident that things will go well at the show, and if anything ever goes wrong, she says the “unspoken, ‘I’ve got your back’ bond” between her and Dolly would come to the rescue.
The We Can’t Stop star and Dolly have always shown affection and gushed over each other. Miley had made a cover of Dolly’s smash hit single Jolene. And when Miley was going through a hard time in her love life in 2019, the older singer had a few warm words for her.
Miley had separated from her husband, Liam Hemsworth, at the time and had gone on to a whirlwind romance with Kaitlyn Carter. After the two broke up, the 30-year-old star began seeing longtime friend Cody Simpson with whom she had a short romantic relationship.
Despite how stormy Miley’s life seemed at the time, Dolly believed she would get through it just fine. “Lord, I’ve done everything, and what I ain’t done, I intend to. She’s going to do that, too. But Miley’s smart; Miley knows what she’s doing,” the country icon said.
