Why The Osbournes Say ‘Never In A Million Years’ To Another Reality Season
In a recent episode of The Osbournes Podcast, the iconic rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, along with his wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack, opened up about the impact of their reality TV series on their lives and mental health. The show, which aired for four seasons on MTV until 2005, has long been a topic of curiosity among fans and critics alike. However, from the last episode’s discussion, it seems unlikely that fans will see a revival of “The Osbournes” anytime soon.
The discussion took a thought-provoking turn when Jack, 38, posed a question to his family members: did the reality show have a positive or negative effect on everyone’s mental health? Kelly, 39, didn’t mince words as she asserted that it had “a massive negative effect.”
She went on to explain the toll it took on their everyday lives, highlighting the constant scrutiny they faced. “Imagine having to relive every conversation you’ve ever had throughout a 24-hour period or six-month period, and then all of a sudden, people are judging everything you’ve said,” Kelly remarked.
“You’re just like, ‘Wait I just thought I was having a normal conversation, now this person hates me.’ It’s crazy. It just made me so insecure,” she added.
Even the legendary Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy, couldn’t deny the challenges they faced during the show’s run. He admitted, “It’s so intrusive in your house.”
Ozzy even shared an amusing anecdote about wanting a private space to escape the cameras, only to find out they had invaded even that sanctuary. “At the time, I said I wanted a safe room where I could go and pick my nose and squeeze a zit if I want to without being on camera, and they had a f—ing camera in there. When you’ve got hidden cameras, you start to freak out,” he recounted.
As the seasons progressed, Ozzy noted that the show became increasingly surreal, and Jack chimed in, saying that is the reason he does not think “we’ll ever do another season.”
Ozzy emphatically agreed, stating, “It won’t happen again. Never in a million years.” Jack concurred, adding, “To be honest with you, I don’t think it should.”
The Osbournes had initially announced a new 10-part series titled Home to Roost, set to air on BBC One and iPlayer. This series was supposed to document their journey from Los Angeles back to the U.K., showcasing their life challenges and triumphs along the way. However, due to Ozzy’s ongoing health issues, the project faced setbacks. Ozzy had been battling health problems, culminating in a series of operations after a fall in 2019, including his final spinal surgery in September.
