Taylor Swift Announces “Carolina” Release for Where the Crawdads Sing
Early Thursday morning, Taylor Swift posted a simple message on her Instagram story letting fans know that “Carolina” is set to release at midnight.
This song is quite a mystery since no one knows if it is supposed to set up a larger project. This could be the first song leading to an album.
“Carolina” will be the first batch of new music Swift has released since 2020, when Evermore was released. Since then, Swift has pushed out two rerelease albums as “Taylor’s Version”, due to her old albums’ music rights being sold to someone else.
Taylor Nation’s Twitter page tweeted out, “There are things that only Carolina knows… and you soon will too,” which makes it seem like there is a mysterious foreshadowing snuck into the cryptic tweet. Whether this involves the movie, or potentially new music, we will have to wait and see.
The song was produced by her friend Aaron Dressner, who she tends to work with frequently on music projects. Dressner is known for his rock band National, and the many other musical projects he has helped to produce.
When Swift announced that she would have a new song on this film’s soundtrack, she stated that she adored the book when she first read it and wanted to be a part of the musical aspect of film production when she learned it was being created. For an artist like Taylor Swift to be so interested in getting involved (especially after not releasing new music for a couple of years), the story has to be interesting.
Based upon the novel by Delia Owens, Where the Crawdads Sing follows a Kya, a girl who was abandoned at a young age and forced to survive alone in the North Carolina marshlands. She opens up to the world and becomes friends with two young men. When one of them ends up dead, she must prove her innocence by discovering the truth behind his death. As she investigates further into the secrets of the marsh, things become messier and more dangerous for her own survival.
Where the Crawdads Sing is set to arrive in theaters on July 15.
