Arnold Schwarzenegger Set To Star In Netflix Movie Come May
Arnold Schwarzenegger is making a comeback on our screens as a new action comedy series he featured in is warming up. Fubar, a Netflix original based on the 75-year-old’s 1994 hit film True Lies, is set to premiere on May 25.
The series follows the life of a CIA operative, Luke Bruner, whose daughter, Emma, is also a CIA operative. The two do not know that about each other, and once they find out the truth, they realize that the true nature of their jobs is not the only thing they don’t know about each other. Upon this realization, the two are forced to partner on a mission against the backdrop of explosive action and espionage.
Arnold plays the role of Luke, while Emma is played by Monica Barbaro. In the series, The Terminator star plays out the level of humor missed by lovers of True Lies, a spy action comedy film based on a family man (played by Arnold) who worked for the U.S. as a secret agent while pretending to be a boring computer salesman often away on business trips. True Lies co-star Tom Arnold would also star in the series.
Speaking about the upcoming series, the actor and politician revealed that viewers are about to get their ribs cracked with a combination of humor and action.
“Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh, and not just for two hours. You get a whole season,” he said.
Named after a military-slang acronym that stands for “fucked up beyond all repair,” Fubar will be Arnold’s first leading role in a scripted television series. While the Commando actor has starred in several movies over the past 50 years, he has not been a huge part of any TV series.
Aside from Arnold, Monica, and Tom, the cast also includes Jay Baruchel, Fortune Feimster, Gabriel Luna, Milan Carter, Travis Van Winkle, Andy Buckley, Barbara Eve Harris, and Adam Pally.
David Chinchilla, Stephanie Sy, Devon Bostick, Scott Thompson, and child actress Rachel Lynch will also feature in recurring roles.
The trailer of the series promises fire, heated pursuit, and a truckload of action.
“I’m back, baby,” Arnold says as he seemingly chases after an unknown character.
