Christina Ricci Accuses Her Ex-Husband Of Being Vindictive And Is Fighting Back For Their Son
Christina Ricci is ready to fight back against her vindictive husband, James Heerdegen, after claims surfaced that he stopped her from taking their son to New York City for a short work trip.
According to People, the 43-year-old American actress requested an emergency hearing to discuss this concern with a judge. Based on the filing, Christina, who is currently starring in the thriller Yellowjackets, mentioned that initially, James didn’t have any problems with her taking their son, Freddie, to NYC, where the project is being filmed.
But apparently, James had a change of mind and then refused to allow their 8-year-old child to travel with her. At this, Christina called her ex-husband retaliatory and vindictive.
In writing, Christina stated that her ex-husband’s refusal to consent to their travel caused her concern because he was being retaliatory and vindictive. She added, “As recently as Monday, June 19, 2023, Jimmy agreed to allow Freddie to travel with me, but apparently, he still wants to wait until our hearing to discuss it.”
The actress, known for playing unusual characters, further explained that she and James previously agreed to have their son travel with her. At times when James could not see his son physically, it was a given that he would receive video calls from the boy and maintain contact.
But due to the demands and changes in her work, Christina stated that her schedule was adjusted and required her to film for additional days in New York, thus requiring her to return. It was here that her ex-husband didn’t consent for Freddie to travel with her to complete the remaining days of filming.
It was alleged that James told Christina that she was abusing their son emotionally and that he wanted this concern to be further discussed during the next hearing by the end of the week.
In her court documents, Christina aired her fears, “I am concerned that if the hearing doesn’t go Jimmy’s way, he will renege. Jimmy’s conduct is purposefully making me incur attorneys’ fees unnecessarily and may have an impact on my employment and professional reputation.”
This, of course, will add to Christina’s legal fees.
Recall that James, a cinematographer in Hollywood, and Christina met more than ten years ago while working on Pan Am, one of Christina’s canceled series, in which she starred with Margot Robbie. The two dated and tied the knot in 2013, but Christina filed for divorce after seven years of marriage.
As if their relationship hasn’t been strained and complicated enough, things turned tense in 2021 when Christina obtained a domestic violence order against Jimmy. Back then, the original Wednesday Addams actress claimed that she suffered and was subjected to severe emotional and physical abuse while with her ex-husband.
What’s alarming was Christina’s claim that their only child witnessed most of these acts of abuse. Jimmy’s legal team denied the accusations, and despite the abuse allegations and the restraining order, Christina was willing to make sure that Jimmy was still part of their son’s life through visitations.
